Hi I'm Carla

I'm a mother of 6, grandmother of 11, love making music on my cello and playing for others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in a large family, having a family of my own and now seeing my children have families of their own has made me appreciate how important families are. How we love and support each other, creating memories that can last a lifetime, makes the challenges we face each day worth every effort we give.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a small child, my father had a massive heart attack. He had always been a vibrant, active man. I couldn't believe that God could let this happen to my family of 7 siblings and my wonderful mother. During the weeks that he was in the hospital, I began to pray in earnest to find out why God would let this happen to my family. Many nights, when sleep escaped me, I would pray to God to let my dad live. One night I left my room and went outside to pray. As I looked up at the stars, the greatness of God's creations made me feel very small and unimportant. I wondered how He could hear my prayers, when I felt an overwhelming love from God and heard His voice in my heart letting me know that He knew me, and loved me as He does all His children. I know God lives and hears our prayers.

How I live my faith

I work part-time with a community Hospice. I love volunteering in patient's homes or in large and small care facilities. I enjoy bringing my cello and playing songs that touch the heart, Many times the tears have flowed on the faces of those who will soon meet again with those who have gone before and Heavenly Father. As I play "How Great Thou Art" or "Amazing Grace" their faith in God is evident in their tears and my faith and love of the Savior grows as I try to ease their burdens at the end of their mortal lives.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

When I hold my newborn grandchild, gaze into the eyes of my 90+ mother, listen to the stories of personal struggle from a friend in pain, I marvel at the love I have for each of them. I realize that this is possible because we are all God's children. God loves us so much, so very much, that He provided us with this beautiful world, with families and friends, and gave us His Son, Jesus Christ, whose life I have chosen to follow. His gospel, the Plan of Salvation, with modern day Prophets to guide us, gives my life direction as I go through the many struggles that each of us has in this mortal existence. Show more Show less
