Hi I'm J. Scott Villanueva

I'm passionate about theater and voice acting. I'm serving in the California, Fresno Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Salinas, CA. My parents got divorced after my younger brother was born. My Dad remarried and has another boy and girl. My mom remarried and also had another boy and girl. Soon after the wedding, we moved from Klammath Falls, OR to Kuna, ID. My Step-dad comes from a strong LDS family, and we started going to church with him when I was 9. When I was 12, and all of my friends started passing the sacrament, I got curious about the church and asked if I could start taking the discussions. Soon after, I received the confirmation that the Church was true, and I was baptized in the Spring of 2007. As a kid, I loved doing little musical theater classes at the Ross Ragland Theatre, and began doing plays that Summer. Acting is my passion, and I spent all of high school in drama. My Junior year, I started attending Fresco Arts Academy, formally known as Artswest, in Eagle, ID to study drama. That summer I auditioned for and received an apprenticeship at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. That same Summer, I began to also have dreams of being a voice-over artist. Looney Toons, The Simpsons, Futurama, My Little Pony, Spongebob Squarepants and The Animaniacs are some favorites, including pretty much every Pixar film. After graduating Fresco with the Fresco Award in my class, I tried hard over the summer to get paid acting job. I had one, too... but then I got my mission call to California! While on my mission, my Dad began taking the missionary discussions; he is now baptized!

Why I am a Mormon

Because I felt that confirmation from the Holy Ghost, and I feel it when I do the CPR: Church, Prayer, Reading.

How I live my faith

I love being on a mission! Being a convert myself, I love feeling as though I'm bringing the blessings I've felt in my life to others. All of the things I thought would be boring and hard to do are things I like to do now (planning, finding, studying for lessons), and I have a testimony that exact obedience brings blessings. I love being with my Spanish ward on Sunday and during activities, and making sure that everyone is in an environment where they can feel the Spirit and feel as though they are loved. On my mission, I love to testify of the things I've learned for myself, and I want everyone in the church to know the blessings they can have if they do what the Lord asks of them. I believe the things I do in every moment of my life is like a testimony to what I believe, whether it be good or bad, and that it's important to always choose to do things that strengthens your testimony and those around you.
