Hi I'm Jared

I like Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, Football, and running. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying Mechanical Engineering and Army ROTC. I like to shoot guns, eat, play sports, and do any outdoor activities. I'm an Eagle Scout and live up to the Scout Oath and Law of doing my best to do my duty to God and my country. I speak Spanish. I served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) in Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, just like the Bible is the word of God. I came to know that the Book of Mormon is true by actually studying it and praying to know if it is true. The Book of Mormon promises that whoever reads the book, ponders its message, and prays asking God, our Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ if it is His word, that person will receive an answer by the power of the Holy Ghost. However, one must have a sincere desire to know if it's true and have faith that God will answer (Moroni 10:4-5). The answer didn't come to me the first time I asked. It came after several times asking to know. At times, Heavenly Father tests of our faith before he sends the Holy Ghost to give us answers to our questions. Since I know that The Book of Mormon is true, I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. That he paid the price for our sins so that we can be forgiven of our sins and have the opportunity to live with our Heavenly Father again. Since I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that God called Joseph Smith to be His prophet to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ back to the earth after many years of it being taken from the earth. I recommend to all to read and pray about The Book of Mormon and know the truth of these things for themselves.

How I live my faith

I serve as a Clerk. I keep track of Church Records and keep them organized. I am also a home teacher. I mentor members of the church and help them with whatever needs they have. I also live my faith by participating in any form of service. A Book of Mormon prophet once said that when you're in the service of your fellow beings, you're only in the service of your God (Mosiah 2:17). I live my faith by striving to follow the example of our Savior Jesus Christ.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is similar to the Bible in that both are testaments of Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world. They differ in that The Bible talks of God's dealings with His children in in Ancient Jerusalem, Europe, Middle East, and places at that half of the world. The Book of Mormon talks of God's dealings with His children in Ancient America. Show more Show less
