Hi I'm David

I am a Gulf war veteran, amateur actor, aspiring author, paramedic and a national emergency manager. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married and a father of five. I used to be an adrenaline junkie which is most likely what led me to be in my current profession. I spent 8 years as a firefighter then worked for several years as a paramedic. I am now a national emergency manager and am responsible for assisting the entire nation with evacuations in the face of disaster. I enjoy acting and take every opportunity to do so. I have small parts in several movies and can be seen at my local community theatre two or three times a year. I enjoy writing and am currently at work on my second full-length novel.

Why I am a Mormon

Because of certain events in my life, I began to investigate religion, believing there had to be something more. Part of the primary reason I had difficulty believing in God or any type of religion was because of conflicting information I received from the various religions. I had always been told that if I didn't accept God and join "our" church...I would go to Hell. That never sat well with me. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was able to expound and clarify that particular principle and what they teach not only dispels what I had been told all my life but also makes perfect sense. Once I had softened my heart and opened my mind and truly began to investigate the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; the answers began to pour in. I received my testimony in a very powerful way and have never doubted it since then. I believe that Joseph Smith truly is a prophet of God and restored the Lord's gospel on this earth. I believe that he truly translated the gold plates giving us the Book of Mormon. I believe the Book of Mormon to be the literal word of God and that it, along with the Holy Bible, shows us the way to be with our Heavenly Father once again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day by day. Having never been religious at all I first had to find faith. It was difficult but after reading the Book of Mormon I was able to. I was baptized on November 24, 2012 and since then have never missed a church service. I believe in keeping the covenants I have made with the Lord and strive day by day to do just that. Since my baptism I have been tasked with several different responsibilities within the church including: missionary, cultural arts director, boy scout leader, scoutmaster, emergency preparedness coordinator and most recently, I have been put in charge of the men's group. In the last year I have been both humbled and blessed and I am reminded every day that we all answer to a higher power. One that loves us more than we can even imagine.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Absolutely not. We love, respect and believe in him but do NOT worship him. We worship God our eternal Father and Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
