Hi I'm Mark

I'm a Momma's boy, a devote Florida State fan, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

My name is Mark. I have lived in Tallahassee, Florida my whole life and love it. It's the land of milk and honey. I love sports and will watch/play anything that has a ball--especially Florida State Athletics. Currently, I am serving a mission for Jesus Christ in California, and it's the greatest thing I have ever done. Before that, and when my mission concludes, I attend college studying accounting--I'm not sure why. I am not sure what I want to do in my future, but my faith in Jesus Christ gives me the knowledge of what things are really important. There are many distractions in this world but the Gospel of Jesus Christ is my strength and a pillar to hold on to in a world of changing values.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents were raised in the church, and likewise, they raised me in the church. I went to church every Sunday, read my scriptures daily with my family, and was taught by my parents as a child. All of this was wonderful, but it wasn't enough for me to stay in the Church. When I moved out of my parents house I had to find out if it was true for myself. Because of the great values instilled in me by my parents, when I went off to school I continued to live the same lifestyle and it was there that my understanding grew. Surrounded by people who lived differently than myself, I saw the peace and comfort that the gospel brought into my life as opposed to some of my friends. Like Jesus promises in John7:17, I came to know the church was true by living its teachings. I have read and prayed about the Book of Mormon and received a witness from the Holy Spirit that it true scripture sent from God. I can promise anyone that does likewise will also receive that same witness. Living this Gospel has brought me peace and happiness like nothing else I have ever done.

How I live my faith

Currently, I live my faith by serving a mission for the Church. Most people have seen those "funny" Mormon missionaries who wear suits and ride bikes. Well, right now, I get to be that guy! I love it. It is definitely a different life than the one I lived before my mission, but I love getting to teach people about Jesus Christ and about what he has done for them and for myself. It's really strange to other people, but there is nothing else better. I do my best to let others see the Light of Christ in me. Through a smile and a wave, a friendly greeting, or helping someone in their yard, I get to share the Love of Jesus Christ everyday.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mark
Members of the church are not required to serve missions. Though encouraged, it is completely up to every individual. We serve because our love of God and our love for our fellowman. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Mark
The Mormon lifestyle is on centered on the teaching of Jesus Christ. We find peace in happiness in following His advice. His advice is given in the form of commandments. That is why people think we have all these "rules". They are advice from God on how to live a happy life and I can say from experience that when we follow the commandments we are happy; and when we don't, we are not happy. Show more Show less
