Hi I'm Aislinn

I call Michigan my home. I'm a bookworm. I'm a good listener. I love to laugh. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now, I am a college student studying Psychology. My goal after I graduate is to become a social worker, but I definitely want to make time to be a mom, too. In my free time, I love to play the piano and flute. I was a band geek all through high school and have enjoyed continuing to play my flute in college. I love how music can help us connect with each other and express emotions in such a unique and beautiful way. Reading books is another favorite pastime of mine. Give me a good fantasy, romance, mystery, sci-fi, or even classic novel and I'll be happily occupied for the rest of the day. The Harry Potter series will always be one of my favorites, though. School is definitely a priority in my life right now, but my relationships with my friends and family are even more important to me. I love spending time with them, even if it's via Skype, since I'm far away from my family to go to school. I'm the oldest of four kids and I couldn't wish for a better family! I also love to play board games, bake, and watch movies. I have a deep and abiding love of Florida beaches. I think that American Sign Language is a beautiful language and I want to continue to learn more. I could eat peanut butter every day and still enjoy it. I believe that there is always something worth rejoicing about.

Why I am a Mormon

In short, I am a Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is where I find truth. The Book of Mormon, the Bible, words of living prophets, the doctrines of the gospel... All of it is full of truth, and this truth is everything in my life. It gives me the answers to life's big questions; I know where I came from, why I'm here, and what's going to happen after I die. It gives me peek at the big picture, which gives meaning and purpose to my life. I know where I want to end up and I know what I have to do to get there. The truths of the gospel also bring peace and happiness into my life. This truly is a gospel of good news. I gain so much happiness knowing that I can be with my family forever, even after we die. I find peace from knowing that Jesus Christ paid the price for my sins, giving me a chance to repent and try again when I mess up. I rejoice in the knowledge that my Savior lives and that because He was resurrected, I can be too. And in my times of trial, I am comforted knowing that my Heavenly Father loves me unconditionally and is always watching over me.

How I live my faith

What I love about faith is that it doesn't take grandiose acts to demonstrate faith. I show my faith every day by praying and believing that my Heavenly Father hears me; by being kind to those around me and knowing that this is how He wants me to be; and by remembering that He loves me and is watching over me and those I love. I also live my faith by attending church and church activities as well as learning about Jesus Christ and His gospel. I sustain and support the leaders of the church and fulfill the responsibilities that they ask me to do. Right now, that means that I get to help my ward by sharing my musical talents. Sometimes, I also do big things to show my faith, like moving across the country to go to college. Even though I was scared, I knew that it was the right decision and that Heavenly Father would be there to help me out. But the biggest thing I try to do to live my faith is to trust in God. It sounds simple, but for me it's hard to let go of my fears and worries and just trust God and His plan for me. I show my faith to Him by trying not to worry about all things that aren't quite perfect in my life, and just trusting that He is in control and won't give me any challenges I can't overcome.
