Hi I'm Phillip

I grew up in Hawaii and went to college in Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Hawaii and I love traveling. I especially enjoyed my study abroad experience in London, England where I studied British choral music. While I may have traveled to many places, I will always consider Hawaii my home and look forward to living there full time again.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as part of the LDS church, but for a long time I didn't know for sure if this was the right place for me to be. That is, until I went away to college. During my first year there, I decided that if I was going to really be an active member in this church, then I needed to know for sure if this church and its message were true. For the first time in my life, I read the entire Book of Mormon all the way through and I started to pray everyday. I asked God for a confirmation of the truthfulness of this church and he answered. Nothing miraculous happened. There were no angels or heavenly messengers that came down to me. There was only the deep and abiding peace and comfort that overtook me and reassured me that this church is God's true church here on this earth. It was as if I could tangibly feel God's love for me as one of His children. At that moment, I knew that He knows me by name and cares for me in a way that I cannot describe. Since then, I have had times of great loneliness and the thing that always keeps me going is the knowledge that I have someone who is looking out for me. This world and this life are too difficult to make it through on our own and I have no choice but to accept God's love for me; the love I felt that night during my first year of college alone in my bedroom.

How I live my faith

In my congregation, I am the chorister which means that I conduct the music for our services. I really enjoy doing this because I get to serve in a position that allows me to share my passion for music with others.
