Hi I'm Katelyn

I'm a native Texan. I'm a horticulturist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student about to graduate in Landscape Management. I want to be a horticulture technician when I grow up. I love to design and take care of plants - it's so therapeutic! I love to dance in the snow and sing in the rain. I love to play games (and deny profusely that I'm competitive). I love to make and bake food. I played soccer in high school, but I don't play any more and I miss it. Being on the team taught me a lot and helped me make friends in high school. I was always a shy child and I never did anything out of my comfort zone. Coming to college changed that for me. It was a chance to start fresh with brand new people and I learned to talk to people and make friends - and I've never looked back.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because without the Church, I would be lost. The Gospel of Jesus Christ gives me a reason to be a better person and to try harder every day to come closer to Christ. Without the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I would feel so guilty about the bad things I've done or the mean things I sometimes say - I can repent and right my wrongs and be forgiven. I'm a Mormon because it's fun! I have so many friends in the Church with similar standards and I never need to feel like I'm in danger. There are so many activities and great events and organizations to be a part of and have a blast! I'm a Mormon because I know the Gospel is true. I have a testimony of living prophets, of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. I have a testimony of the Book of Mormon - that it is another testament of Jesus Christ next to the Bible.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through day to day actions. Being faithful is more than high positions in the Church or openly serving people in big organizations - it's in the little things. Sometimes I get an impression from the Holy Spirit to leave someone a nice note or shoot someone a text message. I try to be kind to everyone I meet. I pay my tithing - a tenth of all that I earn. I read my scriptures daily and say my prayers every night (I'm still working on making my morning prayers a habit - I'm still human!).
