Hi I'm Emily Prawitt

I'm a college student, photographer,nutella lover and laughing enthusiast. I'm a missionary in Guatemala. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student with hopes to one day work in the medical field as a nurse. I have loved attending college and making fun memories with my roommates. I was born and raised in Utah, and have grown up with such an appreciation for tall mountains and four beautiful seasons. I love hiking, running, camping, boating, rafting, and just about any activity that can be done outside. However, I'm not a huge fan of all the creepy-crawlies that unfortunately come along with it. :) I enjoy running my little photography business, and capturing the joys of life through my camera lens. In my spare time I often sing, play the piano, read, take naps, eat oatmeal with extra whipped cream on top, and hang out with my family and friends. My family is my greatest support system, and my very best friends. I recently became an aunt to two little baby girls, and they bring so much joy to my life! From January 2014-July 2016, I will be serving a mission for my church in the Guatemala City Central Mission. I do not speak very much Spanish yet, but I am excited to learn and serve the beautiful people there.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt the Holy Ghost confirm to me that this is God's true and restored church on the earth today. My testimony of the gospel has been built one step at a time as I have prayed and received answers through the Holy Ghost providing me with a personal witness. I know that our Heavenly Father is loving, and desperately wants us to return to live with Him after our life on earth. He knows us personally, and has created a plan for us to find joy and be worthy to have eternal life. I know that at the center of the plan He has created is His Son, Jesus Christ. I know that Christ came to earth to teach by example and love, to Atone for our sins, to be crucified, and to be resurrected. Because He atoned for all of our sins and afflictions, I know that He understands my personal feelings, thoughts, and emotions. I have found great peace and comfort knowing that He really does know perfectly what I am feeling, even when it seems that no one else does. I know that as we learn of Him, and apply the Atonement in our lives, we will feel of his love and healing power. He truly can become our best friend and greatest confidant. I know that no matter what point we are at in our lives, and no matter how lost we may feel, we are never too far out of His reach. We are never too inadequate for His love. I know that it is always extended to me, and to each one of us. I am a Mormon because life isn't easy, but through the teachings and messages of our church, life becomes possible to live with joy, peace, and comfort. There is a lot of pain that comes with life experiences, but the gospel has taught me that there is also a whole lot of joy to be found. I am a Mormon because ultimately, the gospel brings me joy in my every day life. It gives me hope, and provides a way for me to return to my Heavenly home.

How I live my faith

My faith is part of my every-day life. I live my faith by praying each morning and night. I live my faith by studying the scriptures and messages from our modern day prophets. I live my faith by relying on the love and strength of my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ to help me during hard times, and rejoice with me during happy times. My faith provides a strength and support to me as a navigate through the hardships and challenges that are inevitable in life. But my favorite way to live my faith is by loving and serving my family, friends, and neighbors around me. Our message is a message of love, with our Savior Jesus Christ standing as our perfect example. He is not here physically to find his lost sheep, and so it is my job, and our job, to be His hands and build His kingdom on earth. I live my faith by loving my brothers and sisters like the Savior would, and by always being on the watch for those in need of a helping hand and reminder of their infinite worth and potential.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Emily Prawitt
The temple is a place where we can make further covenants with our Heavenly Father. In my life, I use the temple as a reminder of who I am, and what my purpose is in this life. It gives me a greater eternal perspective and understanding of the plan our Heavenly Father has created for us. It provides me with the knowledge that I need in order to be ready to pass on to the next life. The ordinances therein are designed to help us navigate through our mortal lives with joy, and with the things necessary to have eternal life with our forever family. It is also a great source of peace and joy because of the Spirit that is found in the House of The Lord. Show more Show less
