Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a missionary! I love music, guacamole, watching movies, and laughing. I just like to be happy :) and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I absolutely love music. It's how I express myself. My book of songs that I've written is basically my journal. I'm the youngest of 5 kids in my family. I'm currently in college for fall semester until I leave on my mission. When I'm not listening to or writing music you can find me asleep or watching a movie. I love to dance and have done it for most of my life. I'm probably the clumsiest person. Ever. My friends got me a helmet for my birthday. That's how clumsy I am. I just love to laugh and smile and love and enjoy the bumpy and unpredictable ride of life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this church. And I am so grateful for that. Being a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has seriously been the greatest blessing in my life. Not saying that life is easy for me. I have my struggles and trials every day just like anybody. Growing up, I never fully understood this gospel. There were things I didn't agree with. But now that I'm in college and on my own, and the choice really is mine, I can't think of any other way I would want to spend my life than being a Mormon. I know that we have standards that may seem restricting, but really they make life so much happier. At least that's how it's been in my life. I just love the spirit that I feel with this gospel. The love that I feel from the members around me. How people serve one another so willingly. I'm a Mormon because my life is happy this way. And that's all I want in life. I think that's all anyone wants in life really. Is to be happy. And having the knowledge that I'm a daughter of God and how He knows me personally, makes me happy. I know that families are forever. I know that when we mess up in life, we can be forgiven, and we can try again. I know that my Savior, Jesus Christ, died so that I can live forever. He atoned for my sins so I can be forgiven no matter how bad I mess up. I know that I can talk to my Heavenly Father anytime I want through prayer. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I've read it. I've prayed about it. I know that it is the word of God. I know that it is only through God and through His gospel that I can truly be happy and have joy. That is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I'm currently a missionary for the church right now. As missionaries, we volunteer, to leave our families for 1.5 - 2 years of our life to go out and serve. I love my family so much, so it's so special to me to be able to share the message of eternal families with people who don't know it yet. I live my faith by trying to be like the Savior every day, by trying to serve as He would if He were on the earth today. Whether that be through teaching people the gospel, or doing yard work for someone. The Savior taught us to serve, through word and deed. So that's how I'm living my faith. Serving.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Melanie
We believe that families can be together forever through God's plan of happiness. Death isn't the end. Forever and happily every after aren't just in fairytales, they're real. If we accept the Atonement and follow Christ's example then we can be together forever with our families through sacred ordinances that are performed in God's holy temples. We believe that through God's plan of happiness that He has provided for us, we can be sealed to our families for eternity. Show more Show less
