Hi I'm Keri

I love life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town with a big family. I completed my first year of college as a recreation therapy major. I chose that major because of the freedom and challenge that the outdoors offer along with the sweet pleasure of helping people. I'm obsessed with looking at the stars and running in the rain. I listen to music as often as possible, and live other's stories through the pages of books. I'll probably get lost in libraries long after I finish school simply because I love learning. I love the freedom of trying new things and working to develop them into talents; my favorites are writing, ultimate frisbee, and photography. Soon I will start a new chapter of my life by going on a mission to teach and testify to everyone and anyone about who they are, how much they are loved, and why they are needed. I know that this church and gospel are true. It was a long process to decide to go on a mission, but the day that changed everything was a day that I sat in a class and listened to a woman speak about countries that had so very little, she painted a moving picture in my mind and made me realize just how very blessed I am. As I walked out of class it occurred to me that my greatest blessing was this church. So many people don't know. They don't know the many truths that have changed my life. So here I go, out to change the world through love. One day at a time, one person at a time.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is true. I believe that this is the true church and gospel that has been restored to the earth. I was blessed to grow up in the church but I could never live it if I didn't know for myself that it was true. When I was a teenager I really started studying and praying so that I could gain a testimony for myself, and I did. It isn't easy. None of this is easy, but it is far easier to live life with it than without it. I know because of this church, who I am, why I am here, and where I am going. I have purpose, peace, and joy. I know that God loves me and is watching over me. He hears me when I pray and he answers my prayers. I know that his son Jesus Christ came to this earth and made it possible for us to make it back home to live with him, our Heavenly Father, and our families through all eternity. I know that by being a member of this church and living the principles to the best of my ability that my life will be happy. Far happier than I could ever imagine.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church each week to learn, and be uplifted, and also to volunteer service. I've been able to be an adviser for young women ages 12-18, and to teach Sunday school at college. A daunting task but through that my faith was able to grow immensely.Living my faith is not only a weekly thing but a daily thing as well. To live my faith I pray to our Heavenly Father, who I know hears every word I say and loves me an infinite amount. I also read my scriptures daily. Through reading my scriptures I have been able to fill my life with a peace and joy that is unparalleled. Living my faith also effects the way I act and treat those around me. I treat others with more kindness, respect and compassion. I also try to smile more. I've realized that the simple act of smiling at everyone and anyone will almost always earn you a smile in return. I know that often when I am down, if someone smiles at me and I smile in return, my smile sticks and lifts me up. If I can lift others through a simple smile then I will smile away.
