Hi I'm Michael

Oklahoman, Missionary, Mormon

About Me

What are some truths about myself? I enjoy music. I love my family. I enjoy picking up my scriptures and growing in the Gospel. I enjoy listening to and performing music. And I have been called to serve a mission for my Heavenly Father in the State of California. I am a Convert to the Church and have been a member for about 3 years now (4 in November) from the date I wrote this, and I never in my life thought that I would be a member of one of the greatest truths to ever grace this Earth.

Why I am a Mormon

I've always had friends throughout my life who grew up in the Church, and slowly I began to talk with them, reading The Book of Mormon for myself. Eventually, I sat down one night and prayed to know if this was the true Church. And immediately I started to feel emotions of excitement and joy, which gave me my answer I had been searching for. It was amazing, I had never felt so great and excited to go back to Church in my life! I continue to follow his Gospel because to me it serves as a study guide, there's always a lesson to be learned in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching others about what my beliefs are. Whether this means going out with the missionaries in my ward, or talking to a coworker at work and clearing misconceptions that some people end up having about the Church. Another way I live my faith is always being a mental support for some around me. I try to ask someone how their day is going and if I feel that someone is having a rough day, I do anything I can to help them get back up on their feet. I constantly look for ways to serve others, even if it's just helping them reach something from a shelf at a grocery store, or even being willing to offer a ride to close friends or ward members. I do this because our Savior's whole life was dedicated to service. If you look in the scriptures, especially in the New Testament and the Book of Mormon, you'll find marvelous works that he did. - He fed 5000 men with little bread to go around. - He healed the sick, the blind, deaf, and mute. - Calmed the storm with his hands. And most importantly, he died for upon the Cross of Calvary so that we may have the opportunity to return to our Father in Heaven. And was resurrected and continues to guide and teach us every single day. When you feel lost, turn to your scriptures, and I promise you that he will guide you.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a law of health given to Joseph Smith through our Heavenly Father (God). We believe that our bodies are temples that were given as gifts to us from God, and as his children, we need to preserve and keep it in good mental and physical health. This includes avoiding the use of Drugs, Alcohol, and hot drinks including Coffee and Tea. We are promised great blessings, both physical and spiritual if we follow the Word of Wisdom, and I greatly encourage you to talk to your local Missionaries and/or Bishopric about it!
