Hi I'm Allyson

I'm a Public Health student at BYU. I want to travel the world someday. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm into videography, food, and refugee health. Sometimes I like to ski, go running, or do yoga. I'm a huge advocate of the oxford comma. I sometimes can use quotes from TV shows to carry on an entire conversation. I'm engaged to marry a really great guy who's a pro at advertising. Someday I'm going to travel all over the world helping people who need it. After that, I want to move to a cabin in the mountains. Life is good. And it can only get better.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member in Utah, so I was never really exposed to other religions as a child. I never really doubted that the LDS church was true. However, as I got older I started making friends with different beliefs and started researching every religion from Buddhism to Zoroastrianism to Orthodox Christianity. The more I learned about other beliefs, the more my own convictions were strengthened--I found similarities that felt so right, and differences that seemed ever so slightly off. I feel like the LDS religion just makes sense. I have felt the spirit align my head and my heart, and I just know that I'm in the right place and doing the right things by being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

If the goal of this life is to become like Christ, then the very best way we can grow is to serve as He did. I think that when I am truly living my faith, I am giving to those who need it without expecting something in return. Currently I am working with Catholic Community Services as a volunteer to work with refugees. I am also a registered Hospice attendant. Oftentimes I find that I can serve my own friends and family just by lending a listening ear and an open heart. Although I could never reach the level of service that our Savior did, I hope that in some way I am doing what He would be doing were he on the earth today.
