Hi I'm Madeline

I'm a chocolate lover, a musician, and an appreciator of the simple things in life. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 19 year old from the beautiful St. Louis, Missouri. I'm the middle of three brothers and one sister. I love making music with my family, whether it be belting Broadway tunes at the piano or playing in a string trio with my brothers. One of my favorite ways to spend my time aside from music is being outdoors; I love hiking, kayaking, camping, boating, and traveling. I just finished a semester at the University of Missouri St. Louis and I have decided to postpone my studies to serve an 18 month mission for my church. I have been called to the St. George Temple Visitors' Center in St. George, Utah and I report January 1st.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the healing and strengthening power of the Atonement. I know that through through the sufferings of our perfect brother, Jesus Christ, we can live with our Heavenly Father again. I am grateful for what happened in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross, that He took upon Himself our pains, infirmities, and sins and that "with His stripes we are healed." The Atonement can fill that which is empty and strengthen that which is weak. I know that He loves us and cares for us, and because He died for us we can cast our care upon Him. He is the Great Physician and only He can heal our wounds from sin and pain. I have a testimony of the peace and joy that comes from keeping the commandments. I am grateful for the teachings of Jesus Christ and the example that He set for us. Whether it be loving your neighbor or resisting temptation, He always set a perfect example of how to live a life full of love and joy. This is why I am a Mormon. Because I have felt of the exceedingly great joy that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought into my life. I know that by the mercy and grace of Christ, we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again. The Atonement is real. God's love for us is real.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite ways to live my faith is through music. I believe that some of the greatest sermons are preached through the singing of hymns. Beautiful melodies paired with sacred text bring an inspiring and comforting spirit into the room. I remember various moments throughout my life where I have felt the Savior's love through music, in times of sorrow and in times of joy. I love singing praises unto the Lord and rejoicing in His gospel. I also live my faith through service to others. I strive to be one who nurtures and who builds. I strive to have an understanding and a forgiving heart and look for the best in people. I know that through simple acts of kindness, we and those we are serving can feel our Saviors love. When I find it hard to serve another, I often think of the scripture in Matthew 25:40: "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Overall, I live my faith by acting upon the teachings of the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon. Through daily personal prayer and scripture study, I am able to draw closer to our Heavenly Father and learn more of His perfect son, Jesus Christ. I have found that through a concerted daily effort to live these teachings, it becomes easier to emulate Christ in my thoughts, actions, and desires.

What is being a Mormon like?

Madeline
During my teenage years I felt that being Mormon was restrictive and embarrassing. However, as I've grown to truly come to know who God is and reach out to Him I have found that being Mormon allows me to experience true freedom that enables me to become what I can and ought to be. I can hardly explain the feelings of forgiveness, love, and pure joy that I have felt when living this Gospel. I have thought about it long and hard and have come to the conclusion that nothing in the world can possibly compare to the feelings I have while living this faith. If any are looking for increased joy, purpose, or love in their lives, I invite you to meet with the Mormon missionaries. Wherever you may be in your life, they can help point you to Jesus Christ and the life and light that He can give you. Show more Show less
