Hi I'm Sarah Whiting

I love to laugh. I love music. I LOVE the gospel and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First and foremost, I have a testimony of this gospel. I trained as a classical ballerina for 12 years. I thought it was my whole life. I stopped dancing to stick up for my standards in regards to Sabbath day observance. At first it was a really difficult change, but now I see that it has helped me in more ways than I could even count. Since I stopped dancing I had the opportunity to try and enjoy so many new things that I wouldn't have if I were still dancing. I discovered a bunch of new hobbies that I absolutely love. I discovered I love drawing and painting. I love singing and scuplting. And I want to be a computer scientist someday! But the most important thing is that beyond discovering new hobbies and interests, I have been able to develop my own testimony of the gospel. When dance was the primary focus of my life, I only thought of dance. It was after I quit dance, that I realized that my thoughts should always center around Christ and His love for us. My purpose in life is not to dance. It is to love God's children and do all I can to serve them and bring them unto Christ. That is why I have decided to serve a mission. Because I KNOW we are children of God and He loves us so much. And because I have this knowledge, I am responsible to share it with others and bring them to the joy and happiness of the gospel where they can constantly feel the love of God and the power of the Atonement. I am so excited to be a full-time missionary in Canada.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it is the ultimate happiness. Life is so hard, stressful, unpredictable, and long. I wouldn't want to have to spend 100 years or so on this Earth not having some divine help the whole time. Not only does this gospel help me survive, it helps me feel joy. I recognize the Lord's love for me. I see the beauty of His creations. I know of His plan for me and so I have an easier time making decisions. I can pray. I can receive personal revelation. I can receive blessings through the Holy Priesthood. I just love the gospel! It gives me a purpose and it gives me hope. I am Mormon because I get so happy and excited just thinking about the gospel and my loving Heavenly Father!

How I live my faith

Church has always been an incredibly important thing to me. When I turned 11, the Beehive leader Sis. Gabrielsen approached me and told me she was sooo excited for me to turn 12 the next year and come to Beehives with her. I hardly knew her, but she knew and loved me! Throughout the years, I have grown very close to her and I realize that she knows and loves everyone. Even today, she is one of my favorite people ever because she has such a great love for those around her! I knew then that I wanted to be just like her in my future callings. I've had a variety of callings but in each of them, I strive to make everyone I come in contact with feel loved and important. More than anything I want everyone to know that they are a child of God and He loves them even more than I do. I choose to live proud to be a Mormon. I want to be like Ammon in Alma 26 when he rejoices in the power and understanding of the Lord. I want to live so people know I am not ashamed to be a Mormon but rather, I am so happy and blessed to have the light of Christ and the love of a Heavenly Father. I try to bear my testimony through all my actions. I try to be like Sis. Gabrielsen and love everyone around me. I show them I love them, by sharing my happiness in the gospel. I live my faith by loving my faith.
