Hi I'm Chris Smith

I'm serving my mission in Kennewick, Washington. I grew up in California and I've come to truly love the gospel.

About Me

Throughout my life I have been blessed with a loving family, caring friends, and a proper education. As I grew up in California, I grew to love the beach and enjoyed surfing greatly. In addition, I played volleyball and soccer at my local high school. While attending high school, I had the privilege to serve as the student body president. This allowed myself to build relationships, meet great people, and participate in leadership activities. Currently, I am attending Brigham Young University and have grown to love the spiritual atmosphere and loving people. I am serving my mission in Kennewick, Washington and preparing to teach the gospel in the Spanish language. After my mission, I look forward to pursuing my career and obtaining a family of my own.

Why I am a Mormon

As I grew up in the LDS church, I was never fully aware of the power of this church. I went to church every Sunday, attended seminary, and participated in mutual almost every week. Unfortunately, I initially thought of church as being a tedious task that I was being forced to attend. However, my mentality was immensely altered when I gained a testimony of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father's beautiful plan. You may be asking, did you simply just have a change of thought one day? My answer is no. I continually prayed and asked Heavenly Father if this was the true church of God. As soon as he answered my prayers, I knew that the LDS church obtained the path of righteousness that I must abide by throughout the course of my life. I have personally seen how my church blesses myself and others. It is simply impossible to avoid such incredible power. By having faith in my church, I am able to live my life more fully and become more Christ-like. I am Mormon and I can't imagine having it any other way.

How I live my faith

The Church of Jesus Christ is unique for several different reasons. One reason, is the selfless service members consistently give. The service I am referring to in particular is the service of teaching others the true gospel of Christ. We do this through missionary work, home teaching/visiting teaching, and teaching the youth. During my first year at BYU (College) I gladly served as the president in a group of brethren (Elder's Quorum). Therefore, I learned the true importance of home teaching and the affect it can have on others.
