Hi I'm Toria

I've been blessed with so much; it's time to give back. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm twenty years old and I am preparing to serve a full-time mission in Argentina. Before making the decision to serve a mission, I attended BYU Idaho and absolutely loved it there! Although, I could have done without all the snow. (Thank goodness I've been called somewhere warm!) I have an older brother and younger sister who are the greatest siblings ever! I love to watch my sister play sports, she's an amazing athlete. And my brother just had a baby girl who I completely adore. My family is most definitely the most important thing to me and I cannot wait to teach others of how they can be with their families for eternity!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ is my light in the darkness. The world that we live in can be a frightening place; tragedies occur daily, in every country. These tragedies may be the result of a natural disaster, an accident, or the intentional actions of an individual. No matter where they come from or in what form they come, many of us are affected because of them. I was affected. The details of my tragedy are personal, so I will not share the details, but I will share my feelings. I felt alone. I felt betrayed. I was angry and incredibly sad. I felt that no one knew or could understand my pain and that I would have to bare this burden on my own. I felt this way for a very long time. It was only through the Atonement of Jesus Christ that I was able to overcome those feelings. One night while I was praying to my Heavenly Father, sobbing, I told him that I could not bare the burden that had been placed on my shoulders; I pleaded that he would help me. And he did. Because of the Atonement of his son, I did not have to suffer because of the actions of another person. I was able to forgive. All of the feelings I had previously had were caused because my heart was full of hatred. Once I finally realized that I needed to let go of the hate and asked Heavenly Father to help me, having faith he would hear and answer my prayers, I was able to find peace through forgiveness. God loves us so much that he not only allowed his son to die for us, but he sent him here for that reason. Heavenly Father sent Jesus Christ to the earth, knowing he would suffer and die on a cross. Why did God do that? Because he loves us. He loves me. He loves you. He loves us all. Jesus Christ is my Savior and I will forever be indebted to him. He is my hope, he is my happiness, he is my light. That's what this gospel teaches. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the words of the prophets. I listen to the instructions and the advice Thomas S. Monson gives as well as prophets that have passed on, including the prophets in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I know that prophets are men called by Heavenly Father to lead and guide us, to give us counsel and to help us more fully understand the gospel of Jesus Christ.
