Hi I'm David Kauwe

I've traveled to 44 states of our great country! I now live in the RTP in North Carolina. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a father of 6 children, four girls, two boys, and five grandchildren. I enjoy music of all kinds, dancing, fishing, camping, and karaoke! I traveled with a carnival at age 4-8. I was in a rock band in the 70's, and a young adult song and dance group in the 80's. I met my wife at karaoke about 19 years ago. I've worked in the Insurance and Financial Services field for 33 years now. I also operated a Beef Jerky manufacturing company for 5 years. I really enjoy cooking and coming up with new recipes.

Why I am a Mormon

I started at age 10 to "Church Shop." My parents had had religion forced upon them so they wanted me to search for myself. I visited no less than 5 different churches. I ultimately had a classmate who invited me to his home. I felt a wonderful spirit in his home and wanted to feel that in my life. I started attending midweek primary with him and shortly thereafter had the missionaries teach me about the church. I felt a peaceful calm when they taught me and their teachings rang true to my heart. I loved the Plan of Salvation with the message of us having been in a pre-mortal realm with our Heavenly Father. Coming here to gain a body, test our faith, and prove ourselves worthy of returning to live with our Father once again. I truly have a testimony that Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of God, called and authorized to restore the true church of Jesus Christ to the earth. I know that not of myself, but of the Holy Ghost which has touched my heart and my spirit. As the Apostle Paul stated, "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." There is a Prophet today who can lead us in the ways of the Lord! Even Thomas S. Monson. Let us be wise enough to listen to his words as they are the words of Life!

How I live my faith

Until recently I was the only member of my immediate family. My daughter was baptized in Aug. 2013. I have always tried to live the gospel so as to be the right example for her to look to. I attended church by myself most of the time I've been married to her mom. I've accepted callings and always had the support of my wife even though she hasn't accepted the truths that we profess. We believe in the principle of Free Agency and when we were dating, she asked me if I would "Force" her to join the church. I let her know that that was against our belief and that we should be able to choose the paths we want to walk. I only hope I can live my life so that she will want one day to be part of this wonderful church which is so much a big part of my life.
