Hi I'm Shellie
I'm a wife and mom. I love teaching, devouring books, and making spreadsheets. I'm a Mormon.
I'm a teacher at heart! I love to learn new things, and I love to help others discover the joy of learning. Before making the switch to being a stay-at-home mom, I taught first, second, and third grade for several years. The experience--though challenging--was one of the most rewarding things I've done and taught me compassion, patience, and a passion for education, and it continues to improve the kind of mother I am. I also love playing the piano, camping, hiking, finding good bargains, and just about anything that lets me spend time with my family.
I am a Mormon because it makes me happy! By consistently trying to follow God's commandments and His plan for me, my life has been blessed over and over again. It is comforting to me to know that God knows and loves me, and that He wants me to be happy. I love knowing that I can be with my family forever. I am grateful to know that through Christ's atonement, I can be forgiven of my shortcomings and return to him someday.
Sometimes in the Church, we are asked to serve in ways we wouldn't have volunteered for. About a year ago, I was asked to serve as the music leader for the children at church. Usually, I avoid singing in front of others at all costs! Although I was initially nervous to accept the invitation to serve in that capacity, I am now so happy I did. Each week, I get to spend time with my young friends, teaching them songs about Jesus Christ and His gospel.
