Hi I'm Allen Gerhart

I enjoy being active and playing sports. I love spending time with friends and family. and oh yes, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 18 years old, and just graduated from high school in may of 2013. I was born and raised in Phoenix Arizona and i have 3 older brothers and a sister. I'm currently serving a 2-year mission in Fort Lauderdale Forida.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised with the principles of the gospel and because of this i have been able to live a wonderful life. Being a member of this church has definitely kept me grounded, in the sense that i was able to still go out and be crazy with my friends but because of those morals that were instilled in me, I knew that there were certain things i wouldn't do and lines i wouldn't cross. There was a time where I got off the path for a bit, but because of that good foundation that I grew up with, I was able recognize that the things that I was doing weren't benefiting me at all and i was able to continue heading in the right direction. I am a Mormon because there is truly no greater feeling than having the Spirit of God with you, which is the Holy Ghost. I have been to other non-denominational Christian churches and it just doesn't feel the same. The fact that Joseph Smith was called of God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ and that priesthood authority back on the earth today is so important because through that authority we can be baptized, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and be together as families forever. No other church has that authority from God to perform these ordinances. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that this church is the very church that was on the earth during Christ's ministry. The Book of Mormon truly is the word of God. Read it. Pray about it with a sincere heart and real intent. I promise you, as you do so, Heavenly Father will reveal the truth of it unto you through the power of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

Right now as a full time missionary i have the opportunity to go around teaching people about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. There is nothing better then helping someone come closer to their Heavenly father. I am able to see people make certain changes in their life that bring them the most happiness they've ever felt. There is nothing i would rather be doing then spending 100% of my time serving the Lord and finding His lost sheep. Serving God gives me the most peace and joy i could ever receive.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Allen Gerhart
The purpose of this life here on earth is to learn and grow and become more like our Heavenly Father. We are here to experience happiness and joy as well as pain and sorrow. During our lifetime we have our personal agency to make decisions, good or bad, and learn through trial and error. Show more Show less
