Hi I'm Jimmy Cumbest

I was born in Amarillo, Texas and later moved to Dallas. I am now a missionary for the church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the Texas Panhandle, and moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area with my family when I was 17. I absolutely love science fiction and fantasy culture, including Star Wars, Pokemon, and Dungeons and Dragons. I was homeschooled since first grade, and I finished my freshman year of college at my local community college. I am now a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am serving in the Nevada Reno Mission. I am passionate about sharing the message of the Restoration with people. I absolutely love my calling and will answer any question that you might have.

Why I am a Mormon

I have seen incredible things happen since being a member of the Mormon church. I have read the Book of Mormon cover to cover multiple times and have seen it's correctness every time. I have seen just how much the Book of Mormon and the Church has influenced lives.

How I live my faith

I absolutely love sharing the gospel with people around me. I first learned to talk about my religion at my workplace. There were a few Mormons there, and our beliefs were a common topic. I learned to talk about our church casually. I also participated in video and tabletop gaming groups, and I was also asked about my beliefs there too. I now am sharing the gospel with as many people as I can in the Nevada area.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jimmy Cumbest
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is an example of how much our Heavenly Father loves us. He knows how imperfect and human we are, and the Atonement is how we become perfect and live with Him in the celestial Kingdom again. Jesus Christ is the only Begotten Son of Heavenly Father. He descended to this world with a mortal body and suffered through this mortal experience like the rest of us. He lived a sinless life. He was the only person who could have paid the price for our sins and He did so. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Jimmy Cumbest
Mormons only help Mormons? That is absolutely NOT the case. In fact, since I've been a member of the church, I've spent probably more time assisting others outside of out faith than those of whom share my beliefs. When we give Christlike, any religious, ethnic, or political opinions or beliefs should be nowhere in the picture. Our service website, justserve.org, gives no requirements or boundaries as to what "good" service is. We love to help anywhere -and anyone- we can. Show more Show less
