Hi I'm Alyse

I'm a young mother and wife who loves crafts, the outdoors and family. I'm A Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother to a cute little boy and I'm expecting another in the near future. I've played the piano since I was 4 and I love to use uplifting music to help calm my nerves, share with others, or just as a fun outlet. I also enjoy crochet and knitting and making blankets or other things for family and friends. I love being outside and being in the mountains is my favorite thing--especially if I'm camping or hiking with family or friends. Before kids, I enjoyed working full time but a year after my son was born, I quit my job to be a mom. The dramatic loss of income hasn't always been easy but it has definitely been worth it! To help a bit with finances, I started teaching piano lessons and love that it lets me be a mom.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born into a Latter-Day Saint family and grew up learning all about the gospel, I never personally took the time to gain my own testimony of the church and the gospel. I had questions about life and the gospel but I never took the time to pray about them and I became inactive during my teenage years. At 20, I got married to a wonderful man who was also baptized as a Latter Day Saint as a child but his family was inactive for most of his life so he knew very little of the gospel. After being happily married for a while, I found my love for my husband kept growing everyday and I couldn't imagine life-or death-without him. From growing up in the gospel, I knew the LDS church taught we can be with our families forever if we are sealed with them in the temple and live our lives righteously. I began making changes in my life so perhaps someday I could be sealed with my husband. Soon, my husband starting coming to church with me and about a year later, we were able to be sealed. Family is so important to me and the gospel is centered on families. We can be with our families forever with our Heavenly Father as long as we live the gospel and try to be a better person everyday. Death is still a sad thing but I know it is only a temporary separation. Without that to give my life direction, life would have no point and that is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I get to use my talent with the piano each week in church. I've learned to play the organ and play for our church meetings on Sunday. I also accompany the church choir and help bring the a wonderful spirit to the meetings with music. I love music and I'm glad I get to share my talent with others. I'm a shy person but music lets me share my love of the gospel through sacred songs. Along with music, I try to be a good person and live my life as Christ would have me live it. I'm not perfect but I just keep trying to be better each day.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Alyse
Getting married is a big leap of faith! It can be scary to trust someone else with your heart but when you do, you can find so much joy! You and your spouse both need to have faith in each other for the marriage to work but you also need to remember to have faith in Christ. No marriage or relationship will ever be without it's hardships and so it is during these times that we need to especially lean on Jesus Christ to help us through our trials. If we remember to keep Christ in all our relationships, we will have more love for our spouse, family members and friends because we will feel Christs love for them which will help make the hard times easier.
