Hi I'm Kaitland

I'm a runner. I love to laugh. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah and currently attend a university, majoring in athletic training. I ran cross country and track for my high school team and really enjoyed it. I still love to run and go on jogs when I can. Laughing and sarcasm are my favorite things! I have four crazy awesome (and tease-able) younger sisters and a fantastic mom and step-dad. I love to spend time with them at home and at our cabin, fish with my step-dad, and spend as much time possible outdoors. I recently returned from serving a full-time mission teaching the restored gospel of Jesus Christ for 18 months in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love my Savior, Jesus Christ and I have had it spiritually confirmed to me through the Holy Ghost that this is His church. I was born and raised in this church and have always sensed the good in it. I remember not knowing for sure whether or not this was the truth when I was a young teenager, but since then I have had multiple experiences that have lead me to know that it is. Going to church each Sunday, studying my scriptures (mostly the Book of Mormon and Bible), and praying to Heavenly Father have helped me to confirm this truth. I have found so much happiness being a member of this church. I feel my Savior guiding me and know that He is aware of each of us and is actively involved in our lives. The Book of Mormon is a source of continual strength for me. Whatever happens in life, I know it will be alright because God has a plan for us, and that plan was created for us to be happy.

How I live my faith

The center of our belief as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is our Savior, Jesus Christ, so living my faith to me means following His teachings and His example in every way I can. Seeking to serve others, pursuing an education, studying the scriptures, and loving the people around me are a few examples of things I try to do to follow His example. Life can be tough and very difficult at times, but I've found that following Jesus Christ's teaching and example is the happiest way to live. He has given me hope, peace, and has helped me to have an eternal perspective during rough times in my life.

What is the First Vision?

The First Vision was when Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to a 14-year old boy, Joseph Smith, in 1820 in response to his prayer. Joseph didn't know which church to join because there were so many and each disagreed with one another. He wanted to know which church was right, so he thought about it often and studied the Bible with his question in mind. One day he came across the scripture James 1:5; “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” Joseph decided to act on the counsel given in this scripture and went to a grove of trees where he humbly prayed to God and asked to know which church contained the full truth. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ then appeared to him in all of Their majesty and glory and told Joseph that none of the churches contained the full truth, but that Christ's church with all of its truths would be restored to the earth. Joseph Smith's First Vision marked the beginning of the Restoration of Jesus Christ's Church to the earth. We believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that church. I have had this spiritually confirmed to me and know with all of my soul that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that this is Christ's church. Show more Show less
