Hi I'm Katy! :)

I grew up in a small town, joined the church at 19, and I'm serving in the Texas Houston East Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a little Island town off the coast of Maine. If there is anything that I love to do more than baking, it's smiling and laughing. I have THE BEST dog in the world, her name is Charlotte, and is my rock when it comes to enjoying the simple things in life. I mean, who could enjoy the simple things more than a spoiled pup, am I right? As I am serving in the Texas Houston East Mission, my family moved from my home to Montana. It will certainly been a change when I arrive "home," but this way most of my family will be closer together. After my mission I plan on attending BYU-I, and after that who knows!

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church at 19 years old, and as a teenage, I remember it wasn't an easy step for me to make. All my friends were headed in another direction in their lives, but I knew I didn't want to take that same path. I saw no happy outcome of it. So when the missionaries knocked on my door and began to teach me I knew right away that this was the path that I was meant to take. The Holy Spirit testified to me that this was my time to really become what my Heavenly Father intended and wanted me to become. Believe me, it was no easy task telling my friends what I was doing, and I quickly found that only one friend was still by my side once I left the "cool crowd." Even though from the outside it looked so sad and almost stupid to lose all those friends, but I now had the Gospel in my life, which made up for it and then some. I have never been more happy in my life than I am now. In just the first year of being a member I had an unimaginable amount of blessings poured unto me, and have met some truly amazing people that I wouldn't stumble across anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I can honestly say attending church each Sunday is the thing I look forward to every week. Not only is it a time to relax but more importantly it's a time to remember our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the sacrifices he made for us. I'm so grateful to have the fullness of the true Gospel in my life, and want everyone else to have the same blessings and more in theirs. That is why I'm serving a mission. As a convert I know and understand what it's like without the Gospel, and I don't know what I ever did in my life to deserve it, but what I do know is that my Heavenly Father loves me, and wants me to be happy. He also loves you, very much, and wants you to be happy as well. I testify that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, that our Heavenly Father lives, and he loves us so much as to have a Prophet on the earth today to lead and guide us.
