Hi I'm Colby

I live in Elwood, Utah with my wife, three sons, and daughter. We like doing everything together and we are Mormons.

About Me

I am the father of three wonderful boys and one cute little girl; I am also blessed to be the husband of an absolutely amazing wife. I love to do anything that involves my family. We enjoy boating, camping, fishing, hiking, and just about any other activity that can be done outside together. As a family we have lived in Bear River City, Garland, Moab, North Logan, Logan, and Elwood, Utah. I am a civil engineer and have worked for several general contracting firms. I am currently employed as a facilities manager for a local university.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I choose to continue to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ that have been passed down to me from my ancestors because they bring me great peace and joy. No matter how difficult the challenge has been in my life I have been able to rely on the teachings of the gospel to find relief. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has taught me to respect the traditions that have been passed down to me by my ancestors and to refine and implement the correct traditions and teachings that they had established. I also feel that the principles taught in the holy scriptures are just as pertinent for us today as they were when they were given by the ancient prophets. I try each day to read from the scriptures with my wife and children and to spend time personally studying the teachings of the prophets so that our children will gain a deeper understanding of their relationship with their Savior and their Heavenly Father. I know that we are children of a Heavenly Father who loves us with a perfect love. He knows that we are not perfect and that we will make mistakes, but he still loves us perfectly. I feel His guidance through the influence of the Holy Ghost and know that He hears and answers our prayers.

How I live my faith

I try to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I am far from perfect (as my wife can attest), but I do the best that I can. I have held various responsibilities within the wards and communities where we have lived. Currently I am involved in the Cub Scout program where my wife and I volunteer as Den Leaders for Wolf and Bear scouts in our area. We enjoy spending time each week teaching and learning from the eight and nine year old boys who live in our community. One of my favorite aspects of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is the Home Teaching program. Each month I visit with other members of the LDS church who live in our community. These visits provide me with amazing opportunities to get to know and love my neighbors on individual and personal levels. In the various cities where we have lived some of my most cherished relationships were with families that I got to know through home teaching.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

I have faith that Jesus Christ prepared the way for me and my family to be together as an eternal family. As husband and wife, and as a family, we rely on our faith in Christ to guide to us in our decisions and actions to ensure that we can receive the blessing of being together as a family after this mortal life. I know that receiving the blessing of being together forever depends upon the decisions that I make during this mortal experience. I rely on my faith in Christ everyday so that I can make appropriate decisions to prepare myself to be with my family forever. Show more Show less
