Hi I'm Amy

I grew up in Utah born and raised, I love SPORTS can't get enough football, basketball or baseball. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the odd type of Mormon to say the least, I am older still single (no prospects) and I love Sports. Being a Mormon I am not a fan of the typical BYU nope I am a University of Utah died in the Red Ute fan. I love college games and professional sports as well. Each year I try to make it a goal to hit some major league sporting event on vacation. Usually the Los Angeles Dodgers, The Dallas Cowboys or whichever professional team is playing in the closest venue I am visiting. But I also love to follow my Utes on the road and visit road games cheering my heart out wearing my red. I love to travel anywhere there is a beach and warm weather Hawaii has to be a favorite. One of my most favorite things in the world happens to be my nieces and nephews they are the most fun anyone could ask for. I love visiting them around the country as often as I can spending time with them and spoiling them rotten that's what Aunts are for right?

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the joy and peace that comes from knowing that my Heavenly Father does live and that he loves me. All of this comes from the teaching of Jesus Christ and his example. There are so many forces in the world today that want us to chose evil and be unhappy. Life is full of the negative, but I have to chose the positive side of things even thought at times it may be hard. There is a scripture that means a lot to me and it says "Adam fell that men might be that men are that they might have JOY". Nothing means more to me than that, when I feel that I can't go on I know without a doubt that the entire purpose of being here today in this life at this time is for me to be happy. Living my beliefs makes me happy and if that is why we are here in this world is to be happy and find joy in doing it then I am all for it. I know that God lives that he loves us and that he wants nothing more for each one of us to find joy in this life. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings that to me and my family, there is a peace that cannot be denied and can only come from the Savior himself.

How I live my faith

I currently am working with the youth in our church, weekly we have activities and try to come up with fun new ways to entertain and help them to learn the importance having good morals, which is frankly quite difficult these days. Also in addition to the weekly activities we also have church meetings on Sunday geared directly to the youth to teach and educate them on spiritual matters and help to educate and strengthen their beliefs. The best part of working with the youth is the fun and crazy activities we come up with from serving in the community to rock climbing and cooking the latest and greatest desserts. In addition to working with the youth I also have the opportunity to visit other members of the church in their homes monthly to see how they are doing what they might need or just leave them with a little spiritual boost. It is great to have a friend and more importantly to have a friend that can lift your spirits when they are down and that is what the church brings to me.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

I work in a field that I see families destroyed by the constant addiction of alcohol and drugs. I have a very strong belief that the word of wisdom is not just a constraint on members of our church it is a means of helping to keep us strong physically and emotionally. I see way too many families affected by addiction and the horrible affects this has not only on those addicted but on their families who are trying to support them. I can't say enough that if every person followed the word of wisdom we would not have the crime problems, the over crowding in prisons and jails and our communities and neighborhoods would be more safe.
