Hi I'm Ashton Vandermyde

I am from West Jordan, Utah. I am currently serving as a missionary in the Washington, Vancouver Mission and I love it.

About Me

Family, Music, Acceleration. Aside from the Gospel of Jesus Christ, these three things are what I love most in this life. They are what bring me the most joy. I am the youngest of seven children. I have five older brothers, and one sister. My family really does mean so much to me. To what extent, I didn't quite realize until I left to serve a mission in the Northwest. I was no longer able to see, or call them any time I want; but what I did have, was pictures, and memories. The memories that we hang on to are rarely the bad, but rather the good times we had with those whom we love. The time I have spent away from my family has allowed me to realize the Love that I have for them. My family is my life. My mother made sure that each of her children were introduced to music even before we could breathe on our own. For this I will be eternally grateful. Each member of my family has at least learned to sing, play the piano, and play the guitar among many other musical instruments. Music is the absolute best remedy for eliminating stress. Whenever stress enters my mind, I just pick up my guitar, or sit at the piano, and it is replaced with peace. I love just about anything with an engine. I enjoy working on cars, but most of all, I love driving them. The adrenaline rush that comes when accelerating from 0-60 MPH in an instant beats any other feeling. I love the freedom that is felt when behind the wheel. This is where I find my Joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the closeness that I have felt with my Heavenly Father. This really is the Restored Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ. The only way to come closer to God is through Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End. By following these simple steps in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I have been able to feel peace in this crazy life. I invite you to do the same.

How I live my faith

"And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17) I live my faith by serving. Whether it is manual labor, or missionary service, I feel that the best way to demonstrate faith and set an example is to serve. I have been serving my Father in Heaven by inviting others to come unto Christ. It is true that if we serve God, he will bless us. I have seen many of these blessings throughout my life. I was brought up to be very service minded. I was taught to always help other people if I am able. As I have shown my willingness to help others, The Lord has blessed me with many opportunities to serve, for which I am very thankful. The Gospel is all about serving.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Ashton Vandermyde
The Purpose of Church Welfare is to help people to help themselves. It allows people to turn their lives around rather than being dependent on an organization or government. Giving a man a fish feeds him for a meal. Teaching a man to fish feeds him for a lifetime. Show more Show less
