Hi I'm Kellie Renee Shook

I was born and raised in California. I love art, music, and photography.I'm a goof ball. I'm a missionary. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a big family. I have four brothers and one sister. My mom was a respiratory therapist and my dad is a truck driver. I love to draw, paint, dance, sing, play the violin, listen to music, bake, cook, and crochet. My parents wanted me to always stay active with either a sport or a musical instrument. So I did cheer leading when I was five, Irish dancing when I was 7-years old. When I turned nine, I started to ride horses in rodeo and gymkhana. I did that for the next 5-6 years. As I got older, I had to focus more on school and seminary. Then my mom got very sick with Aspergillus Pneumonia (fungus in the lungs) caused by mold under our kitchen sink. She was in the hospital for a month and a half to two months. And because she lost so much weight from being bed ridden, she had to go to a physical rehabilitation center for another month so she could learn to walk again. And with all the medical bills, I couldn't afford horses anymore. My mom then retired from work and helped me get my high school diploma. And I got my Seminary Diploma. I went to a community college for a year. Then went to The Art Institute of California-Inland Empire for graphics design for two quarters. When the church lowered the age requirements for missionaries, I knew it was the time to go on a mission. I now serve in the Washington Spokane Mission. I've served in Plummer, ID, Spokane Valley, WA, and Spokane, WA. Being a missionary is amazing. What an adventure it has been so far.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason why I am a Mormon and continue to follow in His gospel is because I have faith in Him. His gospel is true. The love that our Heavenly Father and our brother Jesus Christ has for us is pure and overflowing. And because of that love, we must give love and respect back. By obeying his commandments, following His word, and living the gospel, we can give back. There has been so many times that I felt that I didn't matter or anything I did doesn't make a difference to anybody. But when I would kneel and pray to our Heavenly Father, I knew I mattered to Him. And anytime I needed to talk to someone or I needed guidance, I would read my scriptures and pray, and He would always be there.

How I live my faith

I try to always stay active in all the things I do. Some of my callings I have had in the church was young woman's counselor, young woman's vice president, young woman's president, nursery assistant, and in the activities committee in my ward. We are always looking for ways to help the community and families. My community is always willing to help and serve each other. We would all pitch in together and help all that we could.
