Hi I'm Fernando

I'm a husband, a father of four, a further education teacher and a writer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married 25 years and I am also a father of four, not yet a grandfather. With regards to my professional life I am virtually a teacher, but I do wear a variety of different hats. I am a qualified Further Education Teacher; my current job title is "Additional Learning Support Trainer", meaning that I support apprentices with their Functional Skills (maths and English) at their workplace. I am a small business owner, and as such I teach Spanish and do occasional translations from and to Spanish/English. Finally, I am also an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Oral Examiner. I am a man of variety and I do love what I do, but my real vocation, what I have longed to be ever since I was a child, is being a writer. And I am nearly there as my first novel, which first draft took me ten years to write, will be published some time soon. I also love any inspiring music and film, no matter what genre. I am an enthusiastic fan of opera and musicals.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was fourteen years-old, following my parents, and ever since, the church has played an essential part in my life. Here, I served as a missionary; here I met my wife and we got married in a temple; here I learned how to be a teacher and how to speak in public; here I am learning leadership skills and how to conduct my life with dignity and decency. The Church offers all that and more and I am very thankful for being a part of it. That's in a nutshell why I am a Mormon, because by following the Saviour I can always improve and be a better person, falling at times, but getting up again in order to carry on with more vigour than before.

How I live my faith

I hold the priesthood. Many years ago I was a full time missionary for two years and I served in Idaho, US. At the present time I do hold a leadership calling in the church, which gives me the opportunity to serve my brothers and sisters in the Gospel. I try to center my life around Jesus Christ by praying often, reading the scriptures, attending Sunday services, and so on. I live a very busy life, family, work, personal pursuits and also my religion, without which, I would feel an enormous void in my life.
