Hi I'm Kayla

I am California girl living on the other side of the world. I love science, service and smiling. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in Korea. I love the Korean people, the culture and of course, the food. I am so excited to be sharing the gospel with Heavenly Father's sons and daughters. Missionary work is incredibly rewarding. Before I left on my mission, I completed two years of college. I love participating and watching all kinds of sports, but my favorites are swimming, tennis and football. I also love to sing and dance! I secretly wish I was a broadway star, but I don't think that is the path I am supposed to take. I am studying Exercise Science in school and hope to attend medical school after my undergrad! I love serving others and as a cheesy as it sounds, I want to make a difference in this world, even if with just one individual.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church, but I was not truly converted until my junior year in high school. I have attended church with my family for as long as I can remember. As with a lot of kids in the church, my testimony was based on my parents' testimonies and what they told me was true. However, when I got older I knew that I needed to find out for myself whether the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true or not. After much prayer and scripture study, I felt an undeniable confirmation that there is no doubt that the gospel is true. Since then, I have had similar experiences that strengthen my testimony. This gospel brings me joy and blesses my life beyond belief. I know it is because of my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that I am where I am today and that He will continue to guide me and be there for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others in my community. One of the best parts about going on a mission is that you get to serve others 24/7 and learn Christlike love. Before my calling as a missionary, I did service projects throughout my hometown and served the women in my ward. I was called to make sure that everyone was doing okay and when they weren't, I was asked to help them. I love this responsibility because it encourages me to form strong friendships and get to know people I wouldn't normally get to know. Outside of church, I tutor youth in math and science and make blankets for children in the hospital.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Kayla
The ultimate purpose of life is to prepare to return to our Heavenly Father. He sent us to this Earth to receive a physical body. With this physical body also came the gift of agency, the right to choose. Our experiences on Earth help us to learn to choose between good and evil and help us to become more like our Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father wants us to return to His presence, so our time on Earth is meant to be working towards this goal. Show more Show less
