Hi I'm Ashton

I'm a little bit of everything. I'm an adventurer, an enthusiast of life, a full time missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Ashton and I'm a little bit of everything. Growing up I've had the opportunity to do so many things and meet so many people that I just don't know where to start. I love life unconditionally. Don't ask me why, I just do, even when there doesn't seem to be a lot in life to love. I've been raised for years like a nomad in a military house hold, and I wouldn't have it any other way. My hobbies span from vocal performance, to competitive swimming, and all the way over to horse back riding. I can hold my own against the guys in a good game of football or baseball, but none of that compares to my undeniable love for my Savior, my Brother, Jesus Christ. He has truly brought me from the darkest of shadows to help me realizing that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father, who loves me and I genuinely love him. My Savior is the very Redeemer of my soul, and my Father in Heaven has been guiding me to where I needed to be my whole life, it just took some time to see and understand that. I love this gospel with all my heart, might, mind, and soul, and with that knowledge I am preparing to serve a full time mission for the Church in the Mexico City North Mission. I cannot wait to be able to love and to serve the people of Mexico, and I hope that one day I will be able to share this message with you, the reader of my profile, to testify that He is the Christ, and He does indeed love you very much.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be. There was a time in my life when my religion, the very thing that my parents had been diligently teaching me about my entire life, had become lost in translation in my mind, and, to my understanding, held me back from becoming someone in this world. I had become lost. And when I was so trapped in the darkness of the world that I had for so long wanted to be a part of, the only way out that I could find was the loving hand of my Savior. While I may have been born and raised in the gospel, I didn't find my own testimony and choose to live it for myself until my junior year of high school. Though it may have been a long journey to where I am now, I will never forget the love the Lord has shown me every step of the way. I am a Mormon because I am no where and no one without the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I truly choose to be.

How I live my faith

Growing up in a military house hold, there were only a few things that really held us together. As we grew up in different environments all over the country, my older brother and I had several faith-testing trials that really shook us up and threw us curve ball after curve ball. Eventually we had to build our own testimonies and choose whether to live by the gospel standards, or to follow the world. I'm proud to say my brother is now a returned missionary and I am striving to follow in the Lords footsteps daily as I prepare to leave for my mission. But it's never always been that simple. Growing up in this world as a confused teenager can either make or brake your faith, and the adversary will see to it with all his power that you choose the latter. While you may at first stumble onto paths shrouded in darkness, please know that you are never alone, for the Lord is with you, or more often than not, carrying you through when you have no more hope to go on. He loves you with every fiber of his being, so much that He has felt your pain and died so that you may rise again. We each live our faith in a way specific to our testimonies, but I strive to live my faith by serving those who stand in need of comfort, by being a friend to whoever needs one, and by sharing the gift that brought me out of that darkness in my time of need, that He is the light. He is the way. He is that gift. I live my faith by striving to be like Him.
