Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in Billings, Montana. I am a Registered Dietitian and Diabetes Educator. I'm a wife, a mom, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Montana and I love the Big Sky Country! Growing up there I played lots of sports and enjoyed skiing, hiking, and camping in the beautiful mountains. In college I studied Dietetics and eventually received a Masters Degree in Public Health. After graduating I taught weight loss classes and started a diabetes education program at a local health department. Although I'm not working right now, I still try to stay up to date on the latest health and nutrition topics. I married my high school sweetheart and we have a 2 year old daughter. I get to stay home with her and I love it! We find fun things to do everyday like go to the park, the zoo, and the museum. I enjoy cooking and baking as well as exercising and being outside. I also love to read when I have a quiet minute. My husband is in medical school right now. So although he studies quite a bit, he still makes time to spend with his family. My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my husband and daughter.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is the Church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I was raised as a Mormon. As a child I loved to attend church with my family. I knew that the gospel was important to my parents and other family members. During my teenage years, I wanted to know for myself if this really was the true church. As I prayed to know if this church was true, I received a confirmation from the Spirit that it is true. As I studied the scriptures, and had different experiences related to the church, my testimony strengthened. As I lived the commandments and the teachings of this church, I recognized how living this gospel blesses my life. As a teenager I never drank alcohol, smoked, or did drugs. Although I stood out from my peers, my life has been better because of this. Because I chose to live a chaste life before marriage, and because I chose fidelity within marriage, my husband and I have a wonderful relationship. When we were married, we were married for time AND eternity in the temple. This brings me so much happiness and peace. I am so happy to know I will always be with my husband and children, even after death. I am so grateful for a living prophet who leads and guides this church. I have received a confirmation from the spirit that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. I love hearing and reading his words. I know they are from God, and that if we follow him, we will be blessed. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is true. I have read it many times, and each time I read it I feel peace and happiness. The Book of Mormon teaches of Jesus Christ. I have come closer to my Savior through this book. Because I know this book is true, I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet who restored this gospel. I have been to the Sacred Grove where Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph. While there I received a confirmation from the Spirit that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. Every morning and evening I pray to my Heavenly Father. I thank Him for my blessed life and tell Him my desires, worries, and struggles, I ask for his help in my day to day activities and in my role as a wife and mother. I also read the scriptures or the words of our living prophets everyday. Doing this gives me peace and inspiration. All aspects of my life are affected by my faith. Every day I look for opportunities to serve those around me. I do this because I know that every person is a child of God. I know God wants me to help his children in any way that I can. Much of my day is spend caring for my daughter. I find joy in being a mother because I know that this is a divine calling. Even though I have a great education and could be working in an exciting and fulfilling career, I feel that it is more important for me to be at home with my daughter. I want to raise her to be a kind, loving, compassionate, and faithful person. I want to provide and clean, peaceful home for her to grow and develop in. On Sundays I attend church with my family. Before we moved to Nebraska for my husband to attend medical school, I served in the Youth organization. I taught Young Women every Sunday about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I helped them understand that they are daughters of God and that He loves them. I taught them the standards of the gospel and helped them apply those standards to their lives. I also planned and participated in youth group activities every Wednesday night with these young women. I loved being able to get to know these remarkable young women who are living honest, clean, and chaste lives. SInce moving to Nebraska, I have been able to serve in the nursery during church on Sundays. I do this so that other members of my congregation can attend their Sunday school meetings. However, I still get to attend Sacrament meeting. Here I partake of the sacrament and hear uplifting talks by members in our congregation.
