Hi I'm Brett Johnson

I am an Eagle Scout. I grew up in the United States. I love to swim. I love Spanish. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in Nevada, and moved to Washington during high school. I am an Eagle Scout. I tried all different kinds of sports throughout high school, including football, basketball, rugby, cross country, track, and my favorite, swim team!!! I have played the alto-saxophone for 6 years. I play jazz and classical. I like working with my hands. I enjoyed building furniture and wood projects, and rebuilding engines during high school in shop class. I love languages! Especially Spanish!!! I am planning on going to college at Brigham Young University to study Biomedical Engineering. I have a little brother with Down syndrome and he has been one of the greatest blessings God has given our family. He teaches me so much about love and compassion and innocence.

Why I am a Mormon

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is everything that is good in my life. All the happiness I have ever found is by obedience to His commandments. This is His Church. He leads it through living prophets and apostles. I may not know or understand all things about the gospel, but I do know that I can say with 100% surety that when I am obedient to the Lord’s commandments, I am much happier than when I am not obedient. I have experienced this for myself and I know it to be true. Obedience is freedom and happiness. Wickedness is misery and emptiness. Jesus Christ is the source of all joy and happiness in this life. Satan is the source of all evil and misery. I know that when I am serving others, I am truly happy. I know that when I read the word of God, I feel peace. I can feel it and I can testify of this simple truth.I have read the Book of Mormon, and I have prayed to now if it is true. And I can testify to you, that I know it is truly the word of God. I know that Jesus Christ restored the fullness of His gospel through Joseph Smith in these latter days, and that all of the prophets since the world began have testified of Jesus Christ as our redeemer.

How I live my faith

I have served as a youth leader in my church youth group and as an English as a Second Language teacher for members and nonmembers alike. I am also a home teacher. My companion and I share the gospel with members of the church in their homes every month. We do this to help strengthen each other as family units inside and outside of church. I have been given the sacred responsibility and calling of holding the Priesthood, or the authority and power to act in God's name to serve the people around me. This same priesthood authority that existed in the original Church established by Jesus Christ exists in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today. I have recently been called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to share His gospel with the world. I have been assigned to serve in the Spain Madrid Mission for two years! I am so excited and humbled to serve the wonderful people of Spain and to share the restored gospel of Jesus Christ with them!
