Hi I'm Jenn

I'm a teacher who loves to move to new places and try new things. I'm a global volunteer, a CrossFitter and a Mormon.

About Me

I was a single child raised by a single mom who liked to move around a lot. I grew up all over. I still love to travel and move around a lot, but I am always prayerful and careful in my decisions. When I was 15 my mom got remarried, and my whole life changed. I needed a solid foundation in my life, and I am grateful that I turned to God and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The teachings of the Savior gave me guidance and direction in my life. In the following years, through various experiences, God helped me discover my gifts and interests, which helped me decide to become a teacher. Since I like moving around, I have taught in 6 different schools in 3 different states, opportunities which have helped me learn, grow, and challenge myself. Out of everything I have taught, I have always been most passionate about helping children who are learning English as their second language, and I just received my Master's for this. I have always loved learning about and gaining an understanding of other cultures, and I love to not just go and visit other countries, but go with a purpose. I have been blessed to have volunteered with various organizations in Costa Rica, Mexico, Russia and Guatemala. I have studied in Spain and served a full-time mission in Argentina. I hope to continue to serve Heavenly Father's children all throughout the world. I also love fitness and trying new hobbies. I am a dancer, a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a figure skater, and a CrossFitter.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ! I am so grateful that my Heavenly Father guided and directed me in my life. He provided me with experiences that helped prepare me to receive the fulness of His gospel and to find and join His church. When I was about 3 years old, my parents got divorced, and shortly after that my mom joined the Church. She took me for a couple of years, but we moved around a lot and she eventually lost touch with the church and stopped going, but that was my first introduction to the church. I attended a private Christian elementary school, which taught me about God and Jesus Christ, taught me about the Bible and it's teachings, and helped build my foundation in Christ. I also attended many different churches from various religions and continued to learn about Christ, the importance of inviting Him into my heart and His teachings in the Bible. My desire to do His will and the feeling of importance of this in my life continued to grow and develop. Years later, when I was a sophomore in high school, I had not attended any church for years, and I had that desire. I tried one that I was familiar with, but it just didn't feel right. Then one day I was sitting in a class between two girls having a conversation about the Church. I remembered a little about what they were talking about from when I was little, and I had the thought that I should try that church again. I showed up one Sunday, it felt right, and at 15, I came by myself every Sunday. I constantly asked questions so I could know and understand how to live how Heavenly Father wanted me to. I read the Book of Mormon every day and prayed to know it was true. I didn't know all at once in one single powerful experience, but I learned over time, through repeated experiences with learning and living Christ's teachings, diligently studying and praying to know if it was true. I learned to recognize the Holy Ghost testifying of truth. I know Christ lives! His gospel is true!

How I live my faith

Even before I ever attended a church regularly or affiliated with any particular religion, I had always felt the importance of God in my life and had the desire to live as He wanted me to. My love for my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ, my knowledge that They are real and that They love me and want what is best for me, guides my daily thoughts, words and actions. Because I feel Their love and concern for me, I trust Them, and I want to live a life which is pleasing to Them. I want to follow the example of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that He lives, that He is the Savior and Redeemer of the world, and that it is by following His perfect example, keeping His commandments, that I will find true happiness, peace and joy in this life. Life will still be full of it's difficulties, it's stresses, it's challenges, trials and heartaches, but that is life, and that is part of what we came to earth to experience. It is through our challenges and trials that our character is formed, we are shaped and molded to become stronger and more like Christ, as long as we turn to Him and rely on Him. Christ's teachings give me the strength I need to overcome the trials in life, to keep the right perspective, to have faith and hope, to have peace amidst the storm, and to come out conqueror in the end. To keep myself strong and close to the Savior, every day I read the scriptures, the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the teachings of modern-day prophets. I pray, and I try to remember Christ in all that I say and do. It is my greatest desire to be an instrument in His hands, to recognize and take advantage of opportunities that I have to serve and help those around me. I pray to have eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to feel and understand, so that I may reach out to and share Christ's love with them, helping them feel and know that they are valuable and important, that they have a Heavenly Father who knows them, loves them, and will hear and answer their prayers.
