Hi I'm Shay

I grew up in Arizona. I love music and sports. I'm serving in the Canada Vancouver Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town of about 400 people. I'm the youngest of 8 children, and my family is absolutely amazing. I love playing basketball and softball. Though I'm not the best at it, I also love playing the guitar. I've been in college for two years, and beginning in October 2013 I will be serving an 18-month mission in the Canada Vancouver Mission. I am very excited!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the one and only true church of Jesus Christ. I grew up in the Church, so some might think I have it easy, just following what the rest of my family does. But there comes a point in your life when you have to look at what you've been taught and decide for yourself whether to believe it or not. I've made my decision, and now I'm serving a mission to help other people find the truth. Being a Mormon provides me with a sense of belonging and a feeling of community with other members. More than that, the gospel gives me the strength I need to push forward, to become the best person I can. Because of the gospel's teachings, I know that families can and are meant to be together forever, that God loves each one of His children, that Christ is our Savior and He died for us, and that if we make good choice we can return to live with God again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith first by loving it. I love what I believe, and I want others to notice that. Even when my values cause others to treat me badly, I remember that Heavenly Father is the one I need to worry about pleasing. I live my faith by trying to be a good example to those around me, and serving wherever I am called.
