Hi I'm Julie

I grew up in Houston, Texas. I'm a college student studying Public Health, and I love music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying public health. I've always loved learning, no matter what the subject. Well, maybe with the exception of math. Once I graduate I want to work in the international health field, working with other countries on health promotion, hygiene principles, and water treatment. I love teaching people, and I want to help make a difference in their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the peace that being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints brings. I was baptized when I was eight years old, but its only as I've gotten older that I really understand what it means to be baptized into God's church. Not only have I done what God has asked us to do, but by being a baptized and become a member of His church I feel a sense of community and fellowship. I feel that membership in His church is like being part of a big family: the older family members can impart wisdom to you from their life experiences, and you can help teach the younger family members how to go through trials that maybe you've already encountered and conquered. By being a member I am constantly learning how to better myself, while still being able to help teach others from my experiences. I know that this is the true church. I know that God loves each one of us on an individual basis, just as a loving parent knows each of his children. Because of this knowledge, I'm able to love people better and it helps me be kinder. It makes me happy to know that God loves me.

How I live my faith

I play the piano for the Sunday meeting of adult women in my congregation. We start each meeting with a song and close each meeting with a song. Even though it may seem like a small thing, just playing the piano, I try to find the meaning a purpose to this position. As I play, I try to do so in a manner that would please my Heavenly Father. We sing at the start and close of the meeting in order to invite the spirit of the Lord in with us. As the pianist, I try to play the piano so that others can feel His spirit.
