Hi I'm Hanna

I grew up in Oregon. I have a chronic lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Hanna, I am 19 years old and I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when I was 3, it is a chronic lung disease. Causing mucus to build up in the lungs, making it harder to breath and can lead to lung failure. Mucus also builds up in the pancreas, causing our digestive enzymes to not function. I take enzymes (capsules) everytime I eat and I have been doing that my entire life and will until we can find a cure. I do treatments daily and take almost 40 pills a day. I love sports such as tennis, golf, soccer, and some hiking. I love art, music, dancing, and exploring! I am currently going to Aveda Institute for Cosmetology, because I LOVE doing hair, cutting it, styling, makeup, nails. THE WORKS! I am pretty positive and have been so blessed with people, medicine, comfort, and great love and care. I am blessed to be a Mormon and to have CF.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church. As a little girl, I had been learning about God our Heavenly Father and that he loves us and that Jesus Christ died for our sins, so that we may be able to repent and to get through our trials. I have always believed this to be true. Every once in a while I have caught myself asking, 'Why me?' 'What did I do wrong?' Is this ever going to end?'. But then I think about Gods Plan of Happiness and that he wants us all to get through this life with the accomplishments that we each individually need in order to grow and become strong, so that we may return to him. I know that I can always look to Him for comfort and guidance. We are so, so blessed to have the Atonement. I know that I can look up to the Leaders that we have here in this Church, knowing that they want the best for me also. But I know that by having faith in the Lord and Jesus Christ, that I have been so blessed to be here on this Earth during this time. I know that the reason that my health doesn't weaken my spirit is because of my faith, that someday I will be healed and being a member of this church has brought me to know all of this and I am still learning every day. I have been so blessed through this trial to know so many caring and loving people who have truly helped me so much.

How I live my faith

I try my best to attend church every Sunday. My health makes it difficult sometimes. I am constantly seeking an opportunity to lift someone up or to do some kind of service. It brings me a lot of joy and happiness when knowing I may not be able to be healthy at times, but I can certainly try my best to cheer someone up. Service is one way I participate in this church, because we have so many service opportunities and are taught to serve others with a loving heart. The scriptures teach of Jesus Christ preaching to the woman, men, and children, that we will be healed and blessed in incredible ways. Knowing that we are all children of God and can return to our perfect bodies, it truly strengthens my testimony and I can express that to all those around me. He is the greatest example of pure love. I know that if I follow his example that I will be healed and will no longer live in a sick body. We believe that He loves each and every one of us. That is why we as members, missionaries, and friends want to spread the knowledge of this gospel to all people. I am grateful for the scriptures, for prayer, family, friends, the atonement and so much more.
