Hi I'm Keara

I am a military wife, and mother of 4. My favorite place to be is on a surfboard, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, and have been a member of the church for my whole life. When my husband joined the Army, we got stationed in Hawaii, and were there for 4 amazing years! I gained a love for the ocean, and all of the beauty that is there. We spent our time playing in the water on paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks, boogie boards, and pretty much anything we could find! We are now living in Maryland, and I am enjoying all of the beauty that is here as well. The forest here is beautiful, but I still have dreams about playing in the beautiful Pacific ocean again! I have four kids, two who are in elementary school, and two who are still young enough to stay home with me. Sometimes the days feel long, but I know that it won't last forever. My grandma told me once that she would love to have her living room be messy again, and that one day I will feel the same way. I am trying my hardest to enjoy every day of laundry, cooking, cleaning, homework, and running around for as long as I can, especially while my kids are still young enough to want to hang out with me! :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that the church is true. I believe that the prophet, Thomas S. Monson, leads the church through revelation from Jesus Christ, and I believe that by following the teachings of the prophet and the apostles, my family and I will be safe and protected in a world that can be very scary sometimes. More than anything else, I want my kids to be safe, and to find lasting happiness and peace, and I know that those things only come by following the teachings of our Savior.

How I live my faith

I work in the primary presidency in my ward, which serves all of the children between the ages of 3 and 12. In primary, the children have the opportunity to pray, read scriptures, present talks to the other children, sing songs, and participate in various activities that help them better understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. I really love teaching the children because they have such sweet testimonies of their Heavenly Father's love for them. What a blessing it is to be able to teach them that they are all children of God, and that He loves them! Each week, we give the kids the opportunity to share an experience that they had during the week where they were able to feel Heavenly Father's love for them. So many of them have simple little experiences to share, and it is so great to see that they recognize God's love for them in their lives. I feel like listening to them helps me to be more aware of God's love for me in my own life as well.
