Hi I'm Dana

I'm a Mormon. I'm a father, husband and son. I keep moving.

About Me

I like to read non-fiction- anything that I can learn from- financial, science, history, biographies. I've done a bunch of school- 3 different graduate degrees. Still serving in the U. S. Army National Guard- 21 years and counting, with one deployment to Iraq. I also enjoy sports- playing more than watching, but sometimes I need a rest!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon as I was born into a Mormon family. My parents both served in many callings in the church and taught our family principles of the gospel throughout my childhood. I grew in my personal faith substantially when I committed to prepare for a mission. Serving a mission set me on a path of continued service in the church. I've been impressed and appreciated how the gospel of Jesus Christ has helped and been relevant and important in every facet of my life and across different career and personal situations. I know I'm not perfect, and I am thankful that the gospel is for people like me. We are all working to improve ourselves, be better in our various relationships at home, church, work or otherwise. While many lessons and talks and other church resources cover the same core topics, there is always something that I can discover, improve upon, or more fully appreciate. I especially enjoy listening to General Conference talks on CD during long drives that I take for work. For some reason, I "tune in" while driving, helping me recognize my many blessings, commit myself to action on areas that are important to me or my family, and stay focused on the most important things in life.

How I live my faith

I serve in a Bishopric, helping the Bishop administer to the ward- activities, callings, interviews, etc. Our ward family has many talents and it has been a blessing to serve in efforts to organize all of those talents in ways that help all of us learn and grow in the gospel of Jesus Christ. My primary assignments are to support the Young Women and Young Men organizations. I also support the facilities maintenance requirements, key control, A/V needs. I often call upon members to provide talks for Sacrament meetings. I also work to live my faith with my family, as the church is simply a support to the important work done in the home. We have one son who has already left to serve a church proselyting mission and we work to help our other children understand and value the gospel of Christ. We regularly participate in church activities and from time to time also participate in worship and ordinances at temples.
