Hi I'm Zach Westwood

I was raised first in Texas, then in Washington. I played sports in high school and was a senior officer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up first in Ft.Hood, Texas, then moved to Spokane, Washington after my father retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service. I love to play sports, mainly football. After my mission, I would love to go to BYU and study Psychology, and use it to help people.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many members, I was born into the church. However, every faithful member finds their own testimony and conversion if they live and obey the laws and ordinances of the gospel. It took me a while to finally discover the truth for myself. And in some ways, I am still learning. I wasn't always the best example of a Mormon, but I have since changed that. I am not perfect, nor do I ever claim to be. But I know that through Christ's Atonement, I can become perfect and receive salvation. Is it easy? Not always. Sometimes you wonder why this is happening, or why you are going through a certain struggle. But I know, and I promise, that if you stay diligent and strong in your faith, and if you are willing to endure till the end, that all your pains and sadness will be more than worth it. In the Bible, Christ promises that if you take up the cross, and bear pains and persecutions in His name, He will open the gates of Heaven unto you, and you will live with Him and Heavenly Father in happiness for all eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by diligently preparing for my mission. When I wake up, everyone else is gone at work or school, so I pick up the scriptures and read until I feel my spirit is satisfied. I absolutely love to talk about the church and my faith, so when it is Fast and Testimony meeting, I listen to the spirit and bear my testimony as frequently as I can. I am a firm believer that someone in the congregation is in need of hearing something I have to say, and bearing my testimony is a great way to answer someones prayers. Throughout High School, many people would come to me for help or advice, and through the power of prayer and faith, I was able to help them in ways they had never felt. I know God loves His children, and so praying for them almost always seemed to help.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Zach Westwood
Missionaries proselyte because we believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ is for every man, kindred, and tongue. It is not a selective religion, only accepting the strong and the intelligent. We invite all people to salvation, because Christ made it possible for every person to be saved. And not every person knows what a Mormon is, and there are also many misconceptions about Mormons. So proselyting gives us the chance to teach the truth about our religion, and bring to light any misconceptions, and ultimately preach the truthfulness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Zach Westwood
Mormons do believe in equality of men and women. We believe that man could not exist without woman, and woman could not exist without man. We are all equal in the sight of God. But both genders have different roles that cannot be done by the other. Men hold the priesthood, and women don't, because God has done His work on earth through men. They are meant to lead a family with the priesthood in righteousness and faith. That does not, however, mean that his word is law. Women are given the gift of bringing life into this world. They are blessed with kindness and love, and are to be nurtures and caretakers of the family. This doesn't mean that they cannot be successful in a career. The growing opportunity for women in this world is amazing. But they also have a responsibility to love and nurture their children. So, men and women have different callings in life. But no calling is greater than another in the eyes of the Lord. As I said, man cannot exist without woman, and visa versa. Only together can they achieve eternal salvation, not apart.
