Hi I'm Becky

Hi, I love my husband, have almost perfect children and adorable grandchildren! I'm a register nurse and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have 5 married children and 21 grandchildren. I love spending time with family and yes it gets crazy when all 33 of us get together. We get together at least once a month for a Sunday dinner and often make homemade ice cream. Yummy! I love sports. When I was growing up I played soft ball and tennis, these days I enjoy watching basketball and football. I especially love watching my grand kids participate in various sports. By far, their favorite sports seems to be soccer. Some appear to be catching butterflies, others play great defense and/or offense and one plays for the US under 16 team. All the grandchildren are branching out in their own areas of interest and their parents are busy keeping up with them. I graduated from Brigham Young University many years ago in Child development and family relations and then five children later I went back to school and became a register nurse. I worked in labor and delivery and management. After nursing, I owned and operated a distribution business. By far, my greatest joy comes from being a wife, mother and grandmother. I learned to scuba dive about 5 yrs ago. I love to dive and have traveled to many islands to dive. My favorite diving place is Palau. I recently learned how to do embroidery sewing and quilting. I enjoy reading and exercising. I have ran one marathon and have no desire to run another one!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have had the Holy Ghost testify to me that the gospel is true. I have experienced the blessings that come from living this religion. I appreciate the values and family centered focus of the church. These values have given me direction in raising our children and interacting with my grandchildren. I know families can be together forever through ordinances performed in the temple. This knowledge has brought me great peace and comfort having recently buried a younger brother and a mother and father. I am thankful I can be together with my family forever. I know my Heavenly Father loves and knows me personally. I have had several experiences that I refer to as tender mercies that has testified to me that Heavenly Father is aware of me and my struggles. I have read the Book of Mormon several times and I know that this book is true. I know Joseph Smith restored the gospel in this dispensation and that he translated this book from ancient records. I know that we have current day prophets and that the prophet of our church directs it and receives revelation for the church. I know that we can have personal revelation for our own lives if we are living righteously. I know that Jesus Christ died for us all and that through His atonement we can be forgiven of our sins if we repent of them. I also know that He loves everyone and that we are all His children. The spirit has born testimony to me of all these things. I have felt the burning in my heart on numerous occasions. I know my life goes much smoother when I'm living the teachings of the gospel. Yes, I still experience trials and challenges but able to handle them much better when I'm doing those things that draw me closer to my Lord and Savior. I give full credit to the Lord for all my blessings and know that all I have is His. I am thankful for my testimony.

How I live my faith

In my ward I have worked many years with the young women ages 12-17. I have taught lessons and planned activities with them. I have gone to girls camp for 5 years, here camping skills were taught and testimonies strengthened. We met together on Sunday for lessons and one day during the week for activities. I love working with the youth in our church. I have stayed in contact with several of these girls for over 40 years. I have loved watching these young woman grow into womanhood and fulfill various roles. I have worked with other adult women in our ward. I have taught lessons and interacted with them performing services and learning various skills etc. I am assigned to work closely with 2-3 sisters in our ward. I visit with them at least once a month. On Sunday I attend 3 hours of church meetings. On the first Sunday of the month, I fast for 24 hours. I fast with a specific purpose and to give thanks. I attend the temple, a house of worship at least once a month. I have a temple recommend from my church leaders that allow me to go to the temple. I need to live the teachings of my faith to obtain a recommend to go to the temple. I pay my tithing to my church. This is 10% of my gross earnings. I donate money to be used for those in need, donate to humanitarian needs and missionary work. These donations are made and managed by church leaders. I have individual daily prayers in the mornings and in the evenings. I pray with my husband and often have a prayer in my heart. I often turn to the Lord for guidance and peace. I am volunteering 18 months to serve a mission for my church in a foreign country. There are no financial compensations but many opportunities to serve others. It is challenging to leave the comforts of home and my children and grandchildren but look forward to serving.
