Hi I'm Myren

I grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota, USA. I have alway been interested in the sciences. I'm a Mormon

About Me

As a boy I enjoyed hiking and camping around the Northern Black Hills. I always liked science and math, and when I was in 7th Grade, I knew I wanted to be an engineer. I started college at the South Dakota School of Mines, an all engineering school at the time. A friend talked me into transferring to Brigham Young University where I completed my BES in Electrical Engineering and met my wonderful wife of 46 years. We have 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl, all married, and 16 grandchildren. I recently retired as a project engineer developing wideband (up to 40 Gigbits/second) RF/Laser data communications systems. I love woodworking, hiking, traveling, and exploring caves.

Why I am a Mormon

Although my parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was 6 years old, I had been taught in a Protestant Church and have many memories of Sunday School and attending worship sevices occasionally with them. I could not understand why we had been so blessed to hear about Jesus Chirst when so many people throughout the world have not had the opportunity and thus could not be saved. Didn't God love all his children? Through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I have since learned that God, our Heavenly Father loves all His children and that all peoples on the earth are his children. That He has a plan for all of us that will eventually give everyone the chance to accept or reject His Gospel and that through the sacrifice of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, all can be forgiven for their sins if they will repent and ask for forgiveness. I learned of that plan through the scriptures, the Bible and the especially the Book of Mormon. That is why I am a Mormon. I know that Heavenly Father loves and cares about His children. He provided this world with all its beauty and resorces for us, His children. I know that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to the earth to make a sacrifice of His life and to suffer for our sins, everyones. If we will repent and forsake our sins and strive to live His commandments we can be forgiven through the grace of Jesus Christ and be able to return to our Heavenly Father's presence. I know these things are true as the Holy Spirit has born witness to my heart that they are true and I have received that witness over and over.

How I live my faith

I learned early in my life that serving others is a key to happiness. When someone would move into our area, I would bring my children with me to help them move in or to repair something or to help re-roof a house. I have also learned that small acts of kindness do not cost you much, but mean a lot to those who receive them. Each month I visit families in the area that I'm assigned to bring a gospel message and to see that they are ok and to see if they need help. I also learned to have faith in my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I have a life of experiences of prayers being answered, my life being preserved, and receiving pure inspiration that has guided me.
