Hi I'm Jessy

I'm Loyal, Strong and True; born and raised under my Rocky Mountains in Utah; smack in the middle of two brothers; and a TSAMer.

About Me

My favorite thing to do is watch movies - mostly Marvel movies (Thor, Captain America, The Avengers, etc.). But I don't just watch them - I love to pull them apart and find deeper meaning in them. You'd be surprised how many similarities there between most movies, not just Marvel films, and the scriptures. Go watch Lord of the Rings with the scriptures in mind and you'll see exactly what I mean. I love to read. Nothing is better than a good book and a chilly fall day and my couch. I read an average of three books a month. I enjoy playing the piano. I often sit at my old upright and play for hours. It's very soothing. I attend college and am majoring in Broadcast Journalism. I also am minoring in Greek Studies. Random, I know, but Greek culture is beautiful and fascinating, and since there were no career options that went along with that particular emphasis, I thought it would make a lovely minor. I enjoy being physically active. I like to jog and play volleyball, but I also love to watch sports. Football is the best!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a Mormon. We are always taught that we are free to choose whatever we will. So by this point, I could have chosen to become Catholic or Protestant if I had wanted. But as a young girl, I developed a testimony of being a Mormon (aka being a Latter-day Saint (LDS)). I have felt God's Spirit testify to me on many occasions of the truthfulness of the Gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And that is something that I cannot deny that I have felt. I am a Mormon because I believe all that I have learned to be true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith DAILY. If not for my faith, I'd just stay in bed all day. I see His light in all that I do. He gives me everything I have and, even though I constantly make mistakes, He walks with me and encourages me as I strive to do better, no matter what I try to improve upon. I try to get out and be active, to have adventures and to have joy, just as God intended me to (2 Nephi 2:25). I believe that family is ordained of God, and I spend as much time with them as I can - going for drives through the canyon in the fall, playing cards and dice games during a rain storm with the windows open, even (ESPECIALLY) going to football games at LaVell Edwards Stadium and tailgating four hours in advance, and telling each other stories over our fire pit in the summer. I love to serve - I am called to serve. It is part of how I show the Lord that I love him. And that is why I am currently serving an eighteen month mission in Texas (the TSAM)!!! I live my faith by boldly inviting others unto the Savior every day as one of His disciples.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Jessy
The official statement from Gordon B. Hinckley sums up how we Latter-day Saints feel about not only Joseph Smith, but all of our prophets that have come before and after him. We don't worship them, but we do love them. Just as all Christians love, revere and admire Abraham, Moses, Peter and Paul, we love revere and admire Joseph Smith, Gordon B. Hinckley and Thomas S. Monson. Show more Show less
