Hi I'm Laurel

I'm a wife, a mother, a teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and stay at home mom. I have a B.A. in Theater from the University of Southern Maine and graduated from the University of New England' s Teacher Certification Program. I was sealed to my husband in the Seattle, Wa. Temple and together we have two beautiful daughters. I also have three grown step-sons! As much as I love all aspects of the performing arts I choose to receive a teachers certificate because teaching would allow me to have the same schedule as my children. Currently I volunteer in my children 's classes and I am on a substitute teaching list at my children's school, but I'm mostly a homemaker. My mother was a stay at home mom and I've always wanted that for my children. I'm grateful to my husband for allowing me to live my dream!

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always a Mormon. I grew up Catholic and went to Catholic school for 9 years. I am grateful I was raised with a strong spiritual fountain. I've always known of Christ and tried to have a relationship with him growing up. As I grew older I realized how little I actually knew him and I had questions. I pray to know which Church I should go to where I can feel closer to him. I met the missionaries on the street one day while walking home from work. They told me about Joseph Smith and asked if they could visit with me for a discussion. I said no because I wasn't ready to hear what they had to say. A few months later I regretted not listening to the missionaries so I prayed to either run into them again or have them find me someway. Not long after that prayer the door bell rang at the house I was working at as a nanny. It was the missionaries. My prayer was answered and I knew I needed to hear what they had to say I know our prayers are answered. I am so grateful I joined the church.. I know with all my heart this church is true. It has brought so much joy and happiness into my life. The blessings that have come are immeasurable! I am proud to be a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a good example in all my words, deeds and actions. I dress modestly, honor the Sabbath, attend church meetings, serve others and pray for opportunities to share the gospel. I am currently serving as the second counselor in the Primary presidency in my ward. In the Primary we teach children how to learn and live the gospel, learn to love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and prepare them to be baptized and receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. We do all this through our Sunday classes, activities and music. I help teach the children and help the Primary president with all her duties. We have lots of fun!
