Hi I'm John

I live in Alberta, Canada. I am a retired lawyer with 6 children and 9 grandchildren.

About Me

I am a retired lawyer with 6 children and 9 grandchildren. I enjoy biking, swimming, spending time with my grandchildren and doing genealogy research. Right now I am studying French to prepare for a church mission in a foreign country.

Why I am a Mormon

Approximately 40 years ago, I met the Mormon missionaries through a friend. As a teenager, I had always felt that there must be more to life than I had experienced to that point in time. When I attended an activity at the Mormon Church for the first time, I felt that I had come home where I belonged. As I met with the missionaries I experienced feelings of peace and happiness that I had not known before. When I prayed to find out if the Book of Mormon is true and if Joseph Smith was a true prophet, I received a response to my prayers that left me no doubt as to the course of action that I should pursue. I was baptized in June of 1973. Joining the Church is one of the best things that I have ever done. While I am far from perfect, I have learned that when I try to live my religion, I am much happier and I receive many blessings.

How I live my faith

I have had many different and varied church callings. For the past 14 or so years, I have been privileged to work with the youth in my area. I am a better person because of the opportunity to rub shoulders regularly with youth who have strong moral values and a keen desire to contribute to our community in a positive way.
