Hi I'm Preston Tamanaha

Hey! I grew up in Hawaii, Im a middle child. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey!! I'm Preston, Im an fitness enthuses, I grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii but now call Alaska my home. I served a mission in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida mission. And I have an awesome dog named Artemis.

Why I am a Mormon

I was a less active member of the church for a few years... But one day the sister missionaries came over and caught me at the right time. We spoke, and one of the sisters bore her testimony to me and my sister, they ended with a prayer and invited us to a recent converts house. When we arrived the new convert welcomed us and so did his dad. I can't be sure but I think our talk was on: "One Key to a Happy Family BY PRESIDENT DIETER F. UCHTDORF." We began talking and the dad started trying to pick "fights" with these two sisters, I felt the Spirit regardless. At the end of our talk the sisters bore their testimonies of the importance of family and temples. When we walked out they asked how we liked their talk and invited my sister and I to read the Book of Mormon again and pray if what we read was true, they also invited us to church the following day. We agreed to both. I'd like to end with my testimony: I know, that through the atonement of Christ we can return to our Heavenly Father once again. I know that he loves us so much that he sent his only begotten son to die for us, I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was/is a true prophet. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth through Thomas S. Monson. I know this church is true and that families can be together forever.

How I live my faith

Im not perfect and I have many flaws about myself but its my constant strive to be the best person Heavenly Father wants me to be. Im constantly praying for missionary opportunities and have had many instances where Ive been given the opportunity to share my beliefs.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Preston Tamanaha
I absolutely love this topic, so, there are two scriptures I like that I feel compliments this topic really well, a very important scripture is in James 1:5-6; it says: "5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." So, what does this scripture say? It says: "if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." "But let him ask in faith" Super straight forward answer, ask Heavenly Father if what you learned is true and have faith in Him. The second scripture is in Proverbs 3:5-6; it says: "5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all way acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." This scripture compliments James 1:5-6 so well I think! Because if you think about it, faith and trust are pretty much the same thing. Anyway, if you put your faith/trust in Heavenly Father He will direct you to where you need to go. Another very important part of finding out this church is true is recognizing the spirit or the Holy Ghost. The way I recognize the spirit is I have a feeling of love and comfort and peace. If you feel these things that's the spirit confirming that these things are true. Show more Show less
