Hi I'm Justin

I love physics and the outdoors. I am serving a mission in Montreal, Canada. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The outdoors have always been a very big part of my life. Ever since I was little, I have been really involved in camping, fishing, hunting, skiing, and essentially any outdoor activity you can imagine. I love spending time in the sunshine and the beautiful wilderness. I am also pretty nerdy. Mathematics has always come easy to me, so when I began studying physics in high school, I quickly began to love the subject. I have recently finished my first year in college, where I studied astronomy, which is essentially the perfect combination of these two parts of myself. Outside of astronomy, I also enjoy long-distance running and playing the piano.

Why I am a Mormon

Some people that I talk to believe I am only a member of this church because my parents are members. It is true that I grew up in the Church, but there is so much more to it than that. For a long time, I read the Book of Mormon and said my prayers at night, but I didn't feel like I really knew anything was true. After a lot of soul searching, I simply got on my knees before my Maker and asked Him if everything I had been taught was true. A small feeling came to me, saying "you already know it's true", and I realized in that moment that I did. And I could not deny it. Every promise I had ever received about the blessings of living the gospel of Jesus Christ has been fulfilled. I felt sublime peace in my soul. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ and abiding by its teachings has brought me more peace and happiness than by any other way that I have tried. My religion is the way to peace and happiness in this life, and eternal joy in the life to come. I know it. And you can too. Just pray, and God will grant to those who ask with a sincere heart.

How I live my faith

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints focuses a lot on following and living the teachings of Jesus Christ. As a member of this church, I try my best to do so. I love to serve my family and fellow church members, and try my best to exemplify the attributes of the Savior. I know I am not a perfect person, but I try to be kind, loving, forgiving, slow to anger, and just try to be the kind of person that the Savior wants me to be. I am currently serving a mission in Montreal, Canada, which is an amazing opportunity for me to show my love for the Lord and His children. I love serving the people of Quebec and being able to share something with them that is so special to me. I know that the gospel is an enormous blessing to me and my family, and I know that it can bless more of God's children if I find them and they decide to accept God's message of peace and happiness.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Absolutely! We are taught that the Bible is really and truly the word of God. It's holy scripture, just as the recorded words of any true prophet. As Mormons, we also have the Book of Mormon, which is like the Bible. Just as the New and Old Testaments testify of Christ and support one another, the Book of Mormon is another testament that adds to that witness. I personally love to read both the Book of Mormon and the Bible, especially accounts of Christ's ministry. There is so much to learn about Christ's life in the New Testament. There is also an account in the Book of Mormon of Christ coming to teach the ancient inhabitants of America after He is resurrected. It's so beautiful and simple, and both accounts work in perfect unity. I know that the Bible is the word of God. Show more Show less
