Hi I'm Emily Batten

I'm from North Carolina. I'm a student at BYU. I'm serving in the Spain Barcelona Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a junior at BYU. I have two sisters. I am majoring in public relations. I'm preparing to leave to the Spain Barcelona Mission on January 25.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this gospel is true. There is so much joy in my life when I am living the way I am supposed to. I know the Atonement is real. I am grateful for the gift of living prophets on the Earth today. I know that families can be eternal when we keep our covenants, or promises that we make with our Father in Heaven. When Christ was on the earth, He said "48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect" (Matthew 5:48). Sometimes that seems like such a daunting task because I'm not perfect and I mess up. But there's a scripture in the Book of Mormon (Moroni 10:32) that helps me a lot. It says "32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God." I know that as I try my hardest every day to love God, repent, and become more like my Savior, His grace will be sufficient. And the same is true for every person who has ever lived or will live on this Earth.

How I live my faith

My current church calling is as a missionary. I left my family for 18 months so that I can invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. It brings me so much joy to serve others and share the gospel. I strive to live my life as Christ lived His. By studying the scriptures daily, I can learn more about who He is and implement those things in my daily life.
