Hi I'm Stan Witt

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. My family are Mormons going back 5 generations.

About Me

My wife, Sandra and I have 4 children, 1 boy and 3 girls. Some of the highlights of our 28 years together have been traveling with our children. We have taken them to visit family in Argentina and Spain. We have also gone to Paris, Hawaii and the Bahamas. We love to spend time together, and we love to expose our children to other cultures and their rich heritage. I'm an engineer, and have worked in automated material handling, designing and implementing conveyor systems for the past 25 years. I love the outdoors. I love to Hike into the wilderness area of the Uinta Mountain range in Utah. I also love scuba diving. Observing wildlife in its natural habitat has always been fascinating to me. Australia is a country I want to visit someday. I would love to dive the great barrier reef and see the kangaroos in the wild!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe with all my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior and Redeemer of the world. I wasn't always so sure of this. I was about 16 years old when the examples of some friends inspired me with a desire to know whether what I had been taught all of my life was really true. I spent the next several months reading the Book of Mormon, and praying to know if it was true. Whenever I read the that the Book of Mormon, I have a constant assurance that what I am reading is true. The Book of Mormon also helped convince me that the Bible is true, and that Jesus is the Christ. I have a deep admiration for people that believe the Bible and believe in Jesus Christ without ever having read the Book of Mormon. I'm not sure that I would have believed it if I only had the Bible to rely on. The Book of Mormon is what has convinced me beyond any doubt that the Bible is true.

How I live my faith

Sandra and I have always felt that a big part of living our faith is serving others. We have a constant desire to lift up and help others if we can, in any way that we can. We have tried to teach this to our children and their friends. We have taken several trips to Mexico with a charity group that builds homes for people in need. We have taken youth, including our own children and several of their friends on these trips. We try to touch people's lives and let them know that we care. It is gratifying to see the change in the youth as they work to help people that have so much less than they do. We hope that through these efforts, prejudice and hatred can be diminished in the world. I have also dedicated many years working with the Boy Scouts of America. I have seen boys mature into selfless, confident young men through the scouting program. Through this great program, I have had the opportunity to work with several disadvantaged boys that had very few positive things going for them in their lives. Some of my most cherished moments have been with these boys as they experience horse back riding for the first time, or hike to the top of a mountain that they didn't think they could ever do. To see the joy in their faces and the confidence that it builds is truly gratifying. It had a great influence on me when I was a boy. I have always been so grateful to my scout leaders for their time and dedication.
