Hi I'm Jessica

I started studying music in college and ended up in the geology department. I study rocks and I love it. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student. I started right out of high school and had a dream to study music. I auditioned at my college for the music program and began my studies in piano performance. I love music with all my heart. It is how I express myself and how I grow closer to God and others. However, after a time and through a series of events and promptings I had the feeling I needed to study something else. I began searching for another area of study in which I could support myself and expand my knowledge. After a year of searching I landed in the field of geology. I have now been studying geology for the last year and a half and I love it. I love being in a field that is constantly changing and improving and gives me a chance to learn about how the beautiful Earth around me was created. I love learning about things I have never before thought about. I don't know exactly what I want to do for a job in my future or what my future might hold but I am now ready to take on the world, to try new things and expand my field of thought.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and have always attended church, but that does not mean that I always believed it or knew it was true. I really came to know of the truthfulness of this church piece by piece as I began to read the Book of Mormon on my own and to pray to my Heavenly Father when I was around 12 years old. As I did this I began to see His hand in my life. I can clearly see now how He has guided me to where I am today. He is my friend. Jesus Christ is my friend, Savior, and Redeemer. I know now for myself through prayer and personal searching of the scriptures that Christ really did come to the Earth, atoned for our sins, and died on the cross so that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again. I know this church is true with all my heart. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God given to us in modern days. I know Joseph Smith is a true prophet led by God and that he restored this church under the direction of God to the earth in its fullness. I know these things to be true and I give thanks for them every single day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every week by attending church every Sunday. Each week I go to church to feel of the Spirit and learn of Jesus Christ. My calling in my ward the last few years has been the ward organist where I play the pipe organ for sacrament meeting. I love the opportunity to share the musical talent I have developed with others. I always hope that the songs I play bring a spirit to the meeting that will foster a feeling of peace and love that God can bring to the people sitting in the congregation. More recently I have decided to serve a mission for the Mormon church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm going to Ecuador to love, serve, and teach the people living there and to share with them the message of Christ and the happiness it can bring to their lives. It has changed my life. I try each day to live according to the doctrines of Christ and let my life be an example to others.
